The upcoming Ahsoka show has been officially labeled as the fifth season of Star Wars Rebels. Despite the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels after its fourth season, the show left several unresolved plot points that could potentially be explored in a sequel. While a proper fifth season of Star Wars Rebels never materialized, various characters and storylines from the animated series are now being reintroduced in live-action.
In a recent interview featured in Total Film, Rosario Dawson, the actress portraying Ahsoka, delves into how her character connects to the events of Star Wars Rebels, drawing from the insights shared by series creator Dave Filoni.
"It can be difficult to discern whether the information you come across online is factual or simply fan speculation," comments Dawson. "However, based on what Dave said, it seems like Ahsoka's story in The Mandalorian is essentially the fifth season of Rebels. It's satisfying to experience that sense of continuation with the characters she has such a deep history with. Through her mission to find Thrawn, and her belief that Ezra is still alive, we can see the emotional connection she holds for him due to their long and beautiful history together."
Dawson's remarks validate the speculations that audiences have had since Ahsoka Tano made her live-action debut in The Mandalorian season 2. The narrative of Ahsoka will be shaped by the storylines established in the Star Wars Rebels series finale, particularly the quest to locate Ezra and Thrawn.
