Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ahsoka episode 4.
Summary
In episode 4 of Ahsoka, Sabine's betrayal caught Ahsoka off guard, while Baylan took it upon himself to destroy the starmap that led to Thrawn's galaxy. This act initially posed a major obstacle for Ahsoka, preventing her from pursuing them to Peridea.
Nevertheless, the starmap was constructed by studying the migration patterns of Purrgil, enormous star whales in the Star Wars universe. Surprisingly, it unveiled their extraordinary ability to traverse between galaxies.
In the World Between Worlds, Ahsoka now possesses enhanced Jedi skills and the ability to control the Purrgil. There is a speculation that suggests Ahsoka could utilize these newfound abilities to rescue Sabine and Ezra from Thrawn by reaching the planet Peridea. This theory arose following the fourth episode of Ahsoka, which showcased a significant turning point in the series' narrative. Not only did Sabine betray Ahsoka and provide Baylan Skoll with the map to Thrawn, ultimately accompanying the enemy to Peridea in search of Ezra, but it was also believed that Ahsoka had met her demise, only to find herself in the World Between Worlds.
Baylan Destroyed The Starmap, Meaning It Should Be Impossible To Follow Morgan
: Ahsoka's Plan Takes a Hit as She's Unable to Reach Thrawn's GalaxyIn addition to showcasing the Eye of Sion as the exclusive spacecraft capable of intergalactic travel in the Ahsoka series, another factor played a challenging role in Ahsoka's pursuit of Morgan Elsbeth. Just before departing from Seatos with Sabine, Shin, and Morgan, Baylan Skoll obstructed Ahsoka's path to Thrawn's galaxy by activating his lightsaber on the starmap to Peridea. As a result, not only was the intergalactic route lost, but it is highly improbable that Ahsoka memorized the map, making it seemingly impossible to trail Sabine.
The Starmap Was Based On Purrgil Migration Patterns
One of the most significant revelations found in Ahsoka episode 3 pertained to the colossal star creatures called Purrgil. Through the analysis of the Eye of Sion spacecraft, Huyang corroborated the widely-accepted Star Wars theory that Purrgil possess the ability to traverse intergalactically. The voyages undertaken by the Eye of Sion were entirely influenced by the migratory cycles of the Purrgil, thus implying that not only can these majestic creatures journey into other galaxies, but individuals within the Star Wars universe could potentially utilize these established routes to navigate their way to another galaxy themselves.
Ahsoka Can Hitch A Ride On A Purrgil
Ahsoka's ability to utilize the Purrgil for tracking Sabine and journeying to Peridea is now feasible. Ahsoka, currently situated in the World Between Worlds as depicted in Ahsoka episode 4, is expected to witness profound changes in her Jedi powers, depending on her encounters within this Force phenomenon. It is worth noting that the conclusion of Star Wars Rebels hinted at a potential transformation of Ahsoka into "Ahsoka the White," reminiscent of Gandalf's evolution in The Lord of the Rings. However, the introduction of Ahsoka in her own series seems to contradict this aspect of her character development.
Ahsoka's transformation might have been strategically placed in the story, where the World Between Worlds reinforces her rebirth and empowers her to a greater extent. This newfound power could extend to her Force abilities, allowing her to establish a connection with the Purrgil, just as other Star Wars Force users, like Ezra Bridger, have done with different creatures in previous projects. Ahsoka could utilize her influence over the Purrgil to guide them towards Peridea, enabling her, Hera, and Huyang to track down Morgan, rescue Sabine and Ezra, and potentially prevent Thrawn from reclaiming his position as the Empire's successor.
New episodes of Ahsoka are aired every Tuesday at 6pm PT / 9pm ET on Disney+.
