After appearing on 1000-Lb. Sisters, Tammy Slaton has been making efforts to live a healthier lifestyle, including reducing her consumption of soda.

"I don't drink soda as much anymore," the 37-year-old told her fans in a TikTok video on Wednesday, November 29. When asked about her previous habit of consuming up to 12 cans of soda a day, which she affectionately refers to as "sodies," Slaton responded, "I mean, maybe two 12-ounce cans a day, sometimes even less. Sometimes just one, or none at all."

Slaton confessed that she mainly drinks water now, opting for tea, diet tea, or sugar-free Gatorades occasionally. She also enjoys Crystal Light packets but prefers plain water.

In the initial season of 1000-Lb. Sisters that premiered in 2020, Tammy and her sister, Amy Slaton, shared with a dietician that they consume “eight to 12 [cans]” of soda each day. Amy, who is 36, added that they were exclusively drinking diet soda. Amy also mentioned that when they were young, their mother instructed them to drink a Diet Coke after consuming sugar, telling them it would offset the sugar.

Tammy has made significant progress with her weight loss journey since she started the TLC show in 2020 at 600 pounds. In the season 3 finale of 1000 Lb. Sisters in January 2022, her brother, Chris Combs, revealed that Tammy had lost 115 pounds after entering a rehab facility in Ohio.

In September 2022, Tammy underwent gastric bypass surgery and has been dedicated to her weight loss journey ever since.

"I made the decision to have the surgery," Tammy shared with People magazine in June. "It allowed me to strengthen my lungs enough to have my tracheostomy tube removed, and my doctor has recently authorized me to go without my oxygen machine during the day. I now only use my oxygen at night, along with my BiPap machine. I monitor my oxygen levels throughout the day and have my machine close by in case I need it."

Despite the intense surgery, Tammy expressed gratitude for having undergone it. "I feel great," she told the outlet. "I'm thankful to be alive, and it's satisfying to see how much progress I'm making."
