Episode Breakdown
: Another Episode, Another Item Checked off the Bucket ListContinuing from where Akira and Kencho left off, the subsequent scene showcases their adventurous spirit as they camp out on a rooftop in Tokyo. This particular experience is just one of the many remarkable activities on Akira's bucket list. Amidst their playful banter over their individual skills, Kencho playfully teases Akira, implying that his lack of success in dating is due to his pride. However, undeterred, Akira confidently asserts that he will secure a date by the end of the day. Nevertheless, the daunting task lies ahead of him - finding a living woman amidst the hoards of undead.
Akira is on a mission to secure a date, while Kencho decides to add his own desires to the bucket list. Kencho is determined to fulfill his dreams alongside his friend. However, Akira's current objective is to obtain a widescreen TV for movie marathons. Despite this focus on personal goals, Akira starts pondering his own dreams. Before he gets the chance to delve deeper into this introspection, both Akira and Kencho encounter an obstacle.
Their usual route to the mall is obstructed by zombies and a rogue tanker truck. Drawing on his acquired knowledge, Akira bravely escapes into the mall through an underground entrance. Inside, they are compelled to seek shelter in one of the mall stores, away from the horde of zombies. To their relief, they discover other survivors taking refuge in the department store. Kencho expresses gratitude for finding more survivors, while Akira eagerly anticipates the possibility of securing a date and acquiring his coveted flat screen TV all in a single day.
While socializing with drinks and food they acquired from the department store, which they consider as wining and dining, the duo discovers that Reika, Maki, and Yukari are flight attendants. This enables Akira to cross another item off his bucket list. However, Akira lacks the ability to accurately gauge the situation and ends up embarrassing himself while attempting to converse with one of the girls, whereas Kencho effortlessly charms them. Oblivious to this, Akira inadvertently initiates a drinking competition with Kencho in hopes of impressing the girls.
Continuing with their party games, Akira finds himself in the restroom. He has come to terms with the likely outcome of not securing a date, but unexpectedly, Yukari comes in to console him. Could this be his chance to secure a date? Unfortunately, Yukari reveals that she has a boyfriend and informs them that one of the other males has transformed into a zombie, subsequently infecting Reika. With two zombies now trapped in the department store with them, their numbers rapidly diminish. Before leaving, Kencho and Akira seize an opportunity to take a flat screen television to add to their shelter.
Let's Get Dates
The latest installment of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead started off like previous episodes. Akira adds a new item to his list that he's eager to complete. However, his friend Kencho introduces two thought-provoking ideas to Akira. Firstly, Kencho points out Akira's difficulty in finding a romantic partner, a fact that becomes apparent when Akira interacts with the flight attendants. Secondly, Kencho raises a question that lingers in Akira's mind: what is Akira's dream job?
Although Akira briefly ponders this question after encountering the survivors, his focus shifts when he perceives an opportunity to make romantic connections with the flight attendants. Initially, it becomes evident that the two groups have contrasting objectives. Kencho and Akira seek companionship, while the others aim to distract themselves from their harsh reality. However, with the aid of alcohol, the two factions eventually bond and have a good time. This aligns with the overarching theme of the show, which portrays Akira's mission to help those around him savor life to the fullest before it's too late. Nevertheless, an unexpected turn of events takes place, setting this episode apart from the rest.
Akira's perspective undergoes a transformation after his conversation with Yukari. Her expression of love for her job prompts Akira to reflect on his own dream occupation. Previously, Akira merely went through the motions, seeking a good job and working diligently, without experiencing the same passion as Kencho and Yukari for their dream careers. The idea of finding a job that brings happiness has never occurred to Akira before. This aspect adds depth not only to the overall story but also to Akira as a character. Fans eagerly anticipate witnessing Akira's journey of self-discovery now that he is free from the worries of everyday life. It will be fascinating to observe what pursuits Akira will be drawn to in the upcoming episodes.
In the meantime, fans can enjoy streaming Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead on Netflix & Crunchyroll.
