The highly anticipated Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead anime adaptation has finally announced its premiere date of July 9, as confirmed by the official social media accounts. Fans were also treated to a brief teaser, which unveiled the talented artists behind the series' opening and ending themes. This upcoming anime series was initially unveiled in January 2023, as part of a partnership between Shogakukan, Shogakukan-Shueisha Productions, and VIZ Media - the publisher of the original manga.
Akira, the protagonist of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, is on a mission to accomplish a list of things he's always wanted to do in his life, following a devastating zombie apocalypse. Having spent years working in a soul-sucking company, he sees this as a chance to start anew and tick off all 100 items on his bucket list before the end comes. Written by Haro Aso (Alice in Borderland) and illustrated by Kotaro Takata, the dystopian manga series has been running in Shogakukan's seinen magazine, Monthly Sunday Gene-X, since October 2018 and has been compiled into 13 volumes as of February 2023. The English version of the series was released by VIZ in July 2020.
Kotaro Takata, the creator of Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead manga, is set to attend Anime Expo 2023 as a guest of honor and participate in the panel for the anime's world premiere, which will take place on July 1 at the event. The anime adaptation of the series will be directed by Kazuki Kawagoe (director of Komi Can't Communicate) and assisted by Hanako Ueda (episode director of Summer Time Rendering), with character designs by Kii Tanaka, who also provided character designs for So I'm a Spider, So What?. The opening theme for the upcoming anime is titled "Song of the Dead" and will be performed by KANA-BOON, while the ending theme is "Happiness of the Dead" by Shiyui. The series is scheduled to air on Hulu in the US from July 9, with the Netflix release yet to be confirmed.
