Episode Breakdown

, Akira achieved his latest aspiration of becoming a hero. This desire originated from a childhood dream. Accompanied by Kencho, Akira visited the aquarium to obtain a shark diving suit, which would enable him to combat zombies without the fear of being bitten. During their time at the aquarium, they unexpectedly encountered Miss Risk Analyzer (also known as Shizuka Mikasuki) and a zombie shark. Through their collaboration, they successfully halted the zombie shark, ensuring their survival for another day, and Akira finally managed to obtain Shizuka's contact information.

In episode six, Akira and Kencho are faced with the second biggest challenge in a zombie apocalypse: finding power and water. With the power outage, they are no longer able to access fresh water from the pump or get any news. Could this indicate that the city has been completely overrun by zombies? However, there is a silver lining to the power outage as they are finally able to enjoy the clear view of the stars. Reminiscing about gazing at the stars with his parents during his childhood, Akira decides to take Kencho to his hometown.

Akira decides to bring along an RV alongside the bike in order to account for uncertain road conditions and ensure their safety while providing a place to sleep. Unexpectedly, they encounter Shizuka at the dealership, who lacks a driving license. Despite this, they convince her to join their trip to prevent any potential dangers from her driving without a license.

While exploring the extensive collection of RVs, the trio is suddenly compelled to seek refuge in the nearest one due to the presence of a horde of zombies. With Akira driving the RV and Kencho operating the motorbike, the group embarks on their journey. However, as expected, their journey does not go smoothly. They accidentally run over a spike trap, causing Kencho to be thrown off the bike and sustain an injury. To their surprise, the group realizes they have stumbled upon a gang, led by Akira's ex-employer.

Akira struggles to come to terms with the fact that in order to ensure his friend's safety, he will have to work under the authority of Gonzou Kosugi. Despite his reluctance, Akira accepts this arrangement, convinced that it will only last for a duration of two days. As he observes the tired and worn-out workers around him, he is reminded of the hardships he experienced in his previous job. Determined to adapt to the new situation, Akira even attempts to lighten the atmosphere by making jokes, but Kosugi dismisses his efforts. Similar to the zombie-like existence of the workers he supervises, Kosugi views Akira as merely a tool, devoid of any personal significance.

Ghost of the Past

A Haunting Guide to Zom 100: Unlocking Visions of the Afterlife

This episode marks a bleak ending to the season. Akira finds himself coerced into a state of mindless obedience by his former boss Gonzou Kosugi. In order to secure the safety of Kencho and themselves from the relentless zombie threat, Akira sacrifices his freedom. However, the toll is high. He becomes trapped in a monotonous job, but instead of being assigned to a desk, he is burdened with tedious tasks such as cargo handling, fence repairs, and confronting his deepest fears.

Episode six explores the two contrasting aspects of the zombie apocalypse. On one hand, there is newfound freedom for people like Akira and Kencho, who can now indulge in luxury items and travel without the burden of work. However, there is also a darker side, characterized by power outages and the presence of dangerous gangs. Shizuka is well aware that Kosugi, the antagonist, will go to great lengths to prevent their escape, as he cannot afford to lose his workforce. Additionally, Kosugi has already inflicted harm upon Akira and seems determined to do so again.

Based on the conclusion of the episode, it is evident that Kosugi will be the main antagonist in the upcoming episode, and possibly for the remainder of the season. This is logical, considering that Akira is not particularly afraid of zombies or zombie sharks. However, as Shizuka mentioned to Kencho, Akira still carries the deep-seated fear of his chief. The brief flashback provided insights into Akira's emotional state, and Shizuka may play a role in helping him overcome it. Alternatively, it remains to be seen if the mysterious fourth character showcased in the anime's opening and ending sequences will make an appearance.
