Country singer Zac Brown has taken legal action against his estranged wife, Kelly Yazdi.
According to court documents obtained by NBC News, Brown, 45, filed a lawsuit in Georgia on Friday, May 17. In the legal motion, he requested that Yazdi, 32, take down an Instagram post that he believes has damaged his reputation.
According to the Zac Brown Band frontman, Yazdi’s post allegedly violated a confidentiality agreement she signed during their relationship. Brown is now seeking an emergency temporary restraining order to have the social media post removed.
In a statement to NBC News, Brown explained, “I took the necessary steps to enforce our agreement to keep personal and business matters confidential, and to shield my family from online harassment and speculation. My hope is that we can both uphold our agreement to respect each other's privacy and move forward.”
Brown has requested the court to prevent Yazdi from making any harmful statements about him, his family, or his bandmates.
Yazdi has not responded publicly to Brown's legal action. We have contacted both parties for their comments.
Brown and Yazdi tied the knot in a private ceremony in August 2023 but unfortunately decided to part ways just four months later.
In a statement released in December 2023, the couple confirmed that they are going through a divorce. Despite the separation, they still hold mutual respect for each other. They expressed well wishes for one another and gratitude for the time they spent together. During this challenging time, they kindly ask for privacy as they work through this personal matter.
Zac and Shelly Brown were married for 12 years before deciding to split in 2018.
In a statement to Us, Zac and Shelly expressed their gratitude for the journey they had been on together. They acknowledged that sometimes paths diverge, and with deep love and respect, they announced their decision to separate as a couple. Despite the changes ahead, they emphasized their unwavering love and commitment to their family of five children. While the choice to part ways was tough, they approached it with the same strength they had faced other challenges, viewing it as the next chapter in their shared story. Moving forward, their focus remained on love, mutual respect, and caring for each other.
At that time, they came to a conclusion: "Family can take on many different shapes and sizes. Instead of focusing on negative comments or wasting energy on this matter, we encourage you to take a moment to show love to your own family, in tribute to ours."
Zac and Shelly have five children together: daughters Justice (16), Lucy (15), Georgia (14), Joni (12), and son Alexander (9).
Editor's P/S:
It's unfortunate to hear that Zac Brown and Kelly Yazdi's marriage ended in a legal battle. The confidentiality agreement they signed was meant to protect their privacy and shield their family from online harassment. However, it's understandable that Brown would be upset if Yazdi breached the agreement by making harmful statements on Instagram. The court's decision to grant an emergency temporary restraining order to have the post removed is a step towards enforcing the confidentiality agreement and protecting Brown's reputation.
Brown's previous marriage to Shelly also ended in divorce, but they have remained committed to co-parenting their five children. It's encouraging to know that despite their separation, Zac and Shelly prioritize the well-being of their family. Their message encouraging others to show love to their own families is a reminder that love and support can come in different forms.
