Kelly Yazdi is speaking out about her estranged husband, Zac Brown's attempt to seek an emergency temporary restraining order against her last month.
Yazdi, 33, shared in a statement on Instagram on June 3 that the federal district court judge denied Zac Brown’s request for a gag order to prevent her from posting a poem about broken relationships. Despite the denial, Brown responded by issuing a press release where he continued to make defamatory accusations against Yazdi. He accused her of using the lawsuit he filed against her as a way to gain publicity, and vowed to move forward with the lawsuit. Yazdi wants to make it clear that she is not willingly participating in his agenda.
Brown, aged 45, took legal action on May 17 against Yazdi, asking her to remove an Instagram post that he believes damaged his reputation. He stated that the post violated a confidentiality agreement they had when they were together. Court documents obtained by NBC reveal that Brown is seeking an emergency order to have the post taken down.
In response to the lawsuit, Yazdi clarified on Monday that she has not publicly discussed the details of their ongoing divorce. She emphasized that she has not used her smaller platform to speak negatively about the musician, unlike Brown who has made public statements about their situation.
She wrote that barely a month after filing for divorce, he recut their wedding video into a music video with a lookalike model replacing her images and distributed it worldwide. She did not file a lawsuit to avoid tabloid attention, only Zac did.
Yazdi expressed her hope for a mature and respectful resolution to their separation and divorce. She refused to be intimidated or threatened into submission.

She stated that if Zac continues to seek a court injunction against her or continues to publicly defame her or accuse her of dishonesty, she will not hesitate to present the truth in court about their relationship.
Yazdi ended by stating that she is waiting for an apology from Zac. She finds comfort in knowing that the federal courts in the country are dedicated to upholding free speech, even when dealing with a celebrity who has vast resources and a large platform.
We tried to get a comment from Brown's team, but they did not respond before this was published. Brown, who has five children with his first wife, Shelly Brown, had given a statement to Us when he filed his lawsuit against Yazdi.
"After careful consideration, I decided to take the necessary steps to establish an agreement between us. This agreement is aimed at keeping personal and business matters confidential and shielding my family from online harassment and speculation," the singer of "Chicken Fried" shared with Us on May 19. "My only wish is for us to respect each other's privacy and to move forward with the mutual respect we had promised when we went our separate ways."
On the same day, Yazdi issued a response through a statement shared on Instagram. In a portion of the statement, they expressed, "No one, not even Zac Brown with all his wealth, influence, fame, and legal team, can silence my right to freely express myself through art. While I have chosen not to discuss it publicly until now, I reserve the right to speak about the details of our ongoing divorce."
Brown and Yazdi, who started dating in 2022, got married in secret in August 2023, but sadly decided to separate just four months later.
In a statement released in December 2023, the couple confirmed that they are going through a divorce. Despite the situation, they still hold mutual respect for each other. They expressed their well wishes for each other and acknowledged the value of their time together. During this personal time, they kindly asked for privacy.
Editor's P/S:
Kelly Yazdi's unwavering stance against Zac Brown's attempts to suppress her free speech underscores the importance of protecting one's right to express oneself, particularly in the face of powerful opposition. Yazdi's refusal to be silenced or intimidated demonstrates the resilience of those who are determined to speak their truth, even against those who wield wealth, influence, and legal power. Her case serves as a reminder that silencing dissenting voices undermines fundamental principles of freedom and transparency.
The ongoing legal battle between Brown and Yazdi also highlights the complex dynamics of divorce proceedings. Despite their initial agreement to keep personal matters confidential, both parties have since publicly commented on the situation. Brown's use of a press release to continue making defamatory accusations against Yazdi, despite the denial of his restraining order, raises questions about his motives and intentions. Yazdi's decision to speak out in her own defense demonstrates her willingness to confront the challenges and potential fallout associated with publicly addressing marital issues. Their case serves as a cautionary tale for couples considering divorce and the potential consequences of breaking confidentiality agreements.
