Netflix's most recent data confirms that the Yu Yu Hakusho live action series continues to dominate the global non-English-language rankings. Since its debut, the series has consistently held a top five spot and has now secured the number one position for the second week in a row. In the last week of December, the series received a total of 2.6 million views and was watched for a total of 11 million hours, with an average viewing time of 4 hours and 11 minutes. In the previous week, it garnered 6.2 million views, 26.1 million hours, and the same average runtime. The series started at number five but quickly climbed to the top spot in its category.

This collaboration was solidified in April 2021, marking the Yu Yu Hakusho live action as the inaugural production on the Tokyo stages.
The original manga was serialized from 1990 to 1994 and later published in English through Viz Media's English edition of Shonen Jump in 2002. All 19 volumes were eventually released in English print. Additionally, a television anime adaptation aired from 1992 to 1995, leading to the creation of two films and two OVA releases.

As a passionate fan of the original Yu Yu Hakusho manga and anime series, I am thrilled to see the live-action adaptation's success on Netflix. The fact that it has maintained a top five position on the global non-English-language rankings for three consecutive weeks, including securing the number one spot for two of those weeks, is a testament to the enduring popularity of the franchise and the quality of the live-action adaptation. The impressive watch stats, with millions of views and hours watched, further demonstrate the strong fan engagement and anticipation surrounding this series.

The collaboration between Sho Tsukikawa as the director, Tatsuro Mishima as the scriptwriter, Ryo Sakaguchi as the VFX supervisor, and the combined forces of TOHO Studios and Netflix has resulted in a visually stunning and faithful adaptation that captures the essence of the original manga and anime. The attention to detail in recreating the characters, their abilities, and the iconic world of Yu Yu Hakusho is truly commendable.
