The 2024 Golden Globes honored the previous year's top TV shows and movies, but did the popular show Yellowstone receive any nominations? Let's find out. Awards season is in full swing, and the 2024 Golden Globe Awards recently took place at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on January 7th.
All the expected suspects made it onto the nominations list, including Oppenheimer, Barbie, Succession, and The Last of Us. However, one show, Yellowstone, continues to outperform the rest, achieving record-breaking figures for its latest premiere. The questions remain, was Taylor Sheridan’s Kevin Costner-starring series included in the lineup? Here's what you need to know.
Did Yellowstone get any Golden Globes nominations?
Yellowstone did not receive any nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes, which resulted in the show not winning any awards. However, there is a valid explanation for this.
In order for a TV show to be nominated for the Golden Globe Awards, it must be a recurring series in the category of Musical, Comedy, or Drama with at least 150 program minutes aired during the qualifying year. Unfortunately, Yellowstone could not be considered for any categories at the 81st Golden Globe Awards since a majority of Season 5 Part 1 aired in 2022, which was not the qualifying year.
In 2023, only the midseason finale, 'A Knife and No Coin', aired, lasting less than 60 minutes without ads and did not meet expectations. However, Kevin Costner, who won Best Actor in a Drama Series at the previous Golden Globes, made an appearance at the event. The John Dutton star presented the Best Television Female Actor in a Musical/Comedy Series award alongside America Ferrera. While the skit received some praise, some fans found it slightly awkward. Check it out for yourself.
Costner was introduced as "Golden Globe winner and director and star of Horizons: An American Saga Kevin Costner," which some viewed as a snub to Yellowstone. Deadline's Dominic Patten noted that this introduction seemed like a deliberate jab at the Taylor Sheridan franchise, especially considering that Costner had won a Globe for his role in Yellowstone just a year prior.

As a Gen Z netizen, I'm a bit disappointed that Yellowstone didn't receive any nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes. The show has been a huge hit with audiences and critics alike, and it's a shame that it wasn't recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. I think the show's lack of nominations is due to a combination of factors, including the fact that it doesn't fit neatly into any of the traditional award show categories, and the fact that it's not as well-known outside of the United States.
Despite the lack of nominations, I still believe that Yellowstone is one of the best shows on television. It's a well-written, well-acted, and visually stunning drama that has something to offer everyone. I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Yellowstone, and I hope that it will receive the recognition it deserves at future award shows.
