Yellowstone is a show that's full of family drama, cowboy conflicts, and wild west shenanigans. The remaining episodes of season 5 promise to deliver even more of the same. Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, hinted at the show's focus on love, family, and tribal loyalty during an interview with Entertainment Tonight on May 8th. Kayce's struggle to choose between his father and his wife and son is a central theme of the show.
The reason behind the success of the series is the Dutton family turmoil, according to the singer of “No Horse to Ride”. As per him, the turmoil is important to all the characters. Grimes mentioned that the drama becomes more intense when everyone is fighting for their team, without any right or wrong team. Each character tries to do what is best for them.
After the first half of Yellowstone's final season aired in January, fans eagerly awaited news on when the second half would air. However, Paramount's confirmation on May 5 that season 5 would be the last for the western drama left many disappointed. Despite initial plans for a summer 2023 release, production delays and rumored tension between Kevin Costner and creator Taylor Sheridan have caused multiple delays.
Kevin Costner, the star of Field of Dreams, faced accusations in February that he was responsible for the delay in filming for season 5 of Yellowstone. However, his lawyer, Marty Singer, was quick to refute the claims and stated that the allegations were false. According to Singer, the accusations that Costner was only willing to work for a week on the second half of the season were baseless and should not be believed.
According to an exclusive source on May 10, the actor who plays John Dutton on Paramount's series Yellowstone, Kevin Costner, is disappointed with the current delays in filming. However, the source also clarified that the holdup is not caused by Kevin. In a previous event, some members of the cast, including Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and Kelsey Asbille, gave an update on whether they had resumed filming during PaleyFest in Los Angeles.
"We haven't begun filming yet," revealed Wendy Moniz, who portrays Governor Lynelle Perry, in an exclusive interview with Us on April 1. She also shared that Taylor Sheridan is currently writing the script and the cast is eagerly awaiting their return to set. Wendy expressed her love for Yellowstone, referring to it as her dream job, and hinted that she's in it for the long haul.
Mo Brings Plenty, on the other hand, had a clear vision for his character Mo's ultimate fate. In an exclusive interview with Us at the April TV event, he revealed, "I envision my character sacrificing his life to protect something of traditional value."
Lainey Wilson expressed her desire to be a part of the final episodes of Yellowstone, although the ending has been kept a secret by the stars and creator. The country singer stated that she would love to reprise her role as Abby and eagerly awaits the call to be back on set.
In an exclusive interview with Us on April 2, the singer of "Watermelon Moonshine" shared that she and Sheridan became close friends in 2018, which ultimately led to her role on the TV show. Wilson's debut on the show was during the season 5 premiere in November 2022. According to Wilson, Sheridan reached out to her in February of a previous year with the proposition to create a character specifically for her, where she would sing her own songs and be herself, but under the name of a musician named Abby, while dressed in her signature bell bottoms.
