Witcher Fans Rejoice as Liam Hemsworth Joins the Cast in Deepfake Video

Netflix's decision to replace Henry Cavill with Liam Hemsworth in The Witcher has generated buzz While fans will have to wait until 2024 for Hemsworth's debut, early deepfake footage shows he looks the part Will he be able to live up to Cavill's performance? Only time will tell

Fans of The Witcher series were left disappointed when Henry Cavill announced his departure from the show last October. While Liam Hemsworth will not be making his debut as Geralt of Rivia until season 4, a recent Deepfake video has left fans impressed with his portrayal of the character. Despite initial reservations about a possible replacement for Cavill, who was seen as the perfect Geralt by many, viewers will have one last chance to see him in action when season 3 premieres this summer. However, the show's toughest challenge will be to move on without its leading man in the seasons to come.

Based on a Deepfake video created by Stryder HD, Hemsworth seems to fit the part of Geralt quite well, even without acting in the clips. The footage used in the video was taken from two seasons of Cavill's portrayal of Geralt. It is worth noting that Cavill wore Geralt's iconic wig, contact lenses, and beard to complete the Witcher look. Hemsworth's appearance in the Deepfake video is convincing, but it remains to be seen whether he can match Cavill's performance. Stryder HD has posted two clips on their channel, both demonstrating that Deepfakes are easier to create for scenes with low lighting, as Hemsworth's face blends in better. Stryder HD is an experienced video editor and producer with a particular affinity for Deepfake technology. Some of their past works include turning Tom Cruise into an Iron Man variant, casting Elliot Page in The Last of Us instead of Bella Ramsey, and teasing Harrison Ford's potential role as the Commander-in-Chief of the MCU in Captain America 4: New World Order.

The Witcher fandom remains steadfast in their disappointment over losing Henry Cavill as the original Geralt, as evidenced by the comments section on Witcher videos. Multiple sources have claimed that Cavill's departure was due to creative differences with the show's staff, who allegedly lacked respect for the source material and video game adaptations. The fact that Cavill's potential transition into Superman did not come to fruition only adds to the negative perception of his departure. Despite the addition of Hemsworth, the recently released Blood Origin spinoff has received poor reviews, leaving a significant challenge for the future of Netflix's Witcherverse.

The Witcher seasons 1-2 are available on Netflix.
