Can Aidan Shaw and Carrie Bradshaw finally make it work? And Just Like That creator Michael Patrick King dropped a big hint about their future.
In the upcoming season 2 of the Max series, fans will be delighted to see John Corbett reprising his role as Aidan, Carrie's ex-fiancé from Sex and the City. In a recent interview with The New York Times on Tuesday, June 20, show creator King hinted at Aidan's return, expressing her determination not to disappoint fans. Aidan's character was first introduced in season 3 of Sex and the City and played a significant role as Carrie's love interest. However, their relationship became strained in season 4 due to Carrie's commitment issues and Aidan's growing resentment.
In subsequent encounters, Aidan and Carrie crossed paths multiple times following the end of their romantic relationship. Initially, Aidan made a guest appearance in season 6 of the show, holding his baby boy, Tate, in his arms. He disclosed that he had settled down with a furniture designer named Kathy. Later, he made an appearance in the 2010 movie Sex and the City 2, where he revealed that he had welcomed two more sons. Despite Carrie's marriage to Big, the two shared a brief kiss.
The first season of And Just Like That premiered in December 2021, showcasing Carrie's process of grieving after Big's passing. The upcoming second installment, set to debut on Thursday, June 22, will focus on her journey of moving forward.
“It’s an incredibly dynamic and complex relationship,” Parker, 58, expressed when discussing Carrie and Aidan’s connection in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday. As an actor, it is undeniably thrilling to delve into their depths, and for writers, it presents a captivating exploration. Who have they become? Are they truly compatible? Are they seeking forgiveness? Are they attempting to steer their relationship in a different direction? Are they ultimately better or worse for each other? The opportunity to delve into these questions alongside John Corbett, who brings immense talent to the role, is truly a source of immense joy and creativity.”

“There is a sense of anticipation and wonder, mixed with a hint of apprehension,” the Hocus Pocus actress shared about Carrie's romantic journey. “I believe she approaches it with hope, optimism, and genuine curiosity. However, she is now a mature individual who values her independence and does not rely on others. Nevertheless, she remains a hopeless romantic, enthusiastic about the thrill of flirting and pursuing someone, but now she has the power to dictate the terms of her relationships, unlike in her youth."
And Just Like That season 2 premieres Thursday on Max with new episodes dropping weekly.
