NetherRealm has confirmed that cross-play functionality will not be available in Mortal Kombat 1 at the time of its release. However, the developer assures fans that this feature will be added through a patch after the game's launch. In a tweet, the developer expressed excitement for the upcoming release and assured players that they are actively working on implementing cross-play, which will be introduced at a later date.
Regrettably, multiplayer matches on PC, PlayStation, Switch, and Xbox are restricted to their respective platforms until the patch is released.
Nevertheless, in anticipation of the official launch on September 19, NetherRealm has been actively sharing more details about the game. Early Access buyers can start playing it on September 14. Excitingly, after a 17-year absence from the franchise, Nitara is making a comeback as a playable character, portrayed by the talented Megan Fox. Furthermore, Johnny Cage will have an alternate costume featuring the renowned Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Noteworthy characters from other properties will be added to the game through its Kombat Packs, including Homelander from the Boys and Omni-Man from Invincible.
