With the continuous growth and advancement of games, AAA developers find themselves needing to expand their workforce. However, as the team size increases, the likelihood of information leaking also rises. The video game industry has now reached a point where leaks have become an inevitable part of the process, becoming increasingly prevalent in the past decade. It has become almost impossible for a highly anticipated game to make its official announcement without it already being leaked days or even weeks in advance. Mortal Kombat 1 was no exception to this trend.

Despite its official announcement on May 18, 2023, the public first caught wind of Mortal Kombat 1 through a leak in a Warner Bros. financial report as early as February. Now, with everything out in the open, Mortal Kombat 1 is set to be released on September 19, 2023. However, even after the official announcement, a few leaks concerning potential DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1 have continued to surface.

Mortal Kombat 1 DLC Leaks Unveiled: A Sneak Peek Inside the Gaming Universe

On May 11 of this year, Mortal Kombat 1 had its first major leak. A Twitter user named billbil-kun claimed to have received confirmation that the next Mortal Kombat installment would be called Mortal Kombat 1. It was also revealed that the game would be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch, with three different editions. The leak further suggested that DLC fighters from The Boys' Homelander and DC's Peacemaker would be included in the game, although the information was not yet confirmed.

Just one day after the official announcement of Mortal Kombat 1 on May 19, the game experienced another significant leak. This time, not only were two DLC fighters suggested, but the entire contents of the game's first Kombat Pack, including the Kameo fighters, were revealed. The leak originated from an Amazon Italy product listing, which has since been replaced with the official product description. According to the leak, Mortal Kombat 1's first Kombat Pack will feature six playable characters. These characters will include iconic Mortal Kombat franchise staples such as Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda. Additionally, three guest characters will make an appearance, namely Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni Man from Invincible.

The Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 1, as mentioned in an Amazon listing, will reportedly feature five Kameo fighters. These fighters are not fully playable characters, but rather serve as secondary fighters who can execute combo-continuing special moves during matches. The leaked information suggests that the five Kameo fighters will be Tremor, Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Mavado, and Ferra. While Johnny Cage, Ferra, and Tremor may be familiar to new Mortal Kombat fans, the other two fighters may not be as well-known, as they have not yet appeared in the reboot series. Mavado first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, while Khameleon made her debut in the N64 game Mortal Kombat Trilogy.

Although leaks should be approached with caution, there are some indications that suggest this Amazon leak may have some validity. In addition to the Kombat Pack, the Amazon listing also mentioned that a Jean-Claude Van Damme Johnny Cage skin will be included in Mortal Kombat 1's Premium edition, along with at least 72 hours of early access. Both the Premium and Kollector's editions of Mortal Kombat 1 have been officially announced and do indeed include a Jean-Claude Van Damme Johnny Cage skin, as well as early access to the game. While the listing does not specify the characters included, both editions of Mortal Kombat 1 come with a Kombat Pack that adds six playable characters and five Kameo fighters.

Mortal Kombat 1 will be released on September 19, 2023, for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
