Vin Diesel has commented on Dwayne Johnson's surprise cameo in Fast X, despite their previous public feud. Directed by Louis Leterrier, the film sees Diesel's character Dom Toretto facing off against Jason Momoa's Dante and includes several big cameos, including Gal Gadot's return as Gisele. The post-credit scene brings back Johnson's character Luke Hobbs, who is now one of Dante's targets. In a recent interview with ET, Diesel talked about Johnson's return to the franchise, avoiding any mention of their past issues during previous Fast & Furious films.

"Our cast is truly exceptional. We prioritize love and strive to cultivate an atmosphere where our actors can deliver their most outstanding performances. At the end of the day, all actors desire support in creating distinctive characters that will stand the test of time, and that is precisely what we aim to provide in this franchise."

Johnson initially joined the Fast & Furious franchise in 2011's Fast Five, portraying a federal agent and bounty hunter whose mission was to bring down Dom and his crew. He reprised his role in both Fast & Furious 6 (2013) and Furious 7 (2015), but in 2016, Johnson caused a stir when he posted a now-deleted message on Instagram referring to certain members of the Fate of the Furious cast as "candy asses."

Many speculated that Johnson was targeting Diesel in his post, especially after he posted another Instagram message shortly thereafter thanking his co-stars but omitting Diesel's name. Michelle Rodriguez, who played Letty, later confirmed that there was tension between the two actors but insisted that they were still on good terms. Tyrese Gibson, who portrayed Roman, further stoked the flames by blaming Johnson's alleged desire to make the franchise all about himself for F9's delay.

In 2021, Johnson announced that he would no longer be involved with the Fast & Furious franchise, but he expressed regret for the Instagram post that caused the drama. Diesel publicly asked Johnson to reprise his role as Hobbs, but Johnson reiterated that he had no plans to return. However, it appears that the two actors have reconciled, as the post-credit scene in Fast X indicates that Hobbs will play a major role in the upcoming film.
