Vin Diesel, star of Fast X, has recently disclosed that a major cameo in the movie was almost featured in a previous installment of the Fast & Furious series. Fast X is the tenth movie in the mainline Fast & Furious franchise and follows Dominic Toretto, played by Diesel, and his family as they face off against a new villain portrayed by Jason Momoa's Dante. The film boasts the largest ensemble cast in the franchise's history, introducing new characters while also reviving legacy ones, such as surprise appearances from Gal Gadot's Gisele and Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs. Beware of spoilers!
According to Vin Diesel's recent interview with Variety (via Collider), it turns out that Gal Gadot's surprise return as Gisele during the ending moments of Fast X was actually planned for a previous film. In fact, scenes were already shot with the actress, but they didn't quite fit as a finale for that particular movie. Diesel explains that adding tags to a movie is a delicate balance, where you want to include great talent, but also need to maintain the emotional state of the audience at the end. Despite the challenges, Diesel expresses his excitement in having both Gadot and Dwayne Johnson back for the upcoming Fast X, stating that they're happy to have them back home.
“We're fortunate to have experienced such a unique response from audiences for our latest release. For the first time, viewers are challenging us with their level of engagement and investment in the story. The film ends on a cliffhanger that leaves audiences craving for more. This is a new kind of deal that we've never encountered before. It's clear that we have to deliver a satisfying conclusion because we've set the bar high with this one.”

Gadot's last appearance as Gisele in Fast & Furious 6 was in 2013, where her character met an explosive end. While her return has been highly anticipated, her death never felt conclusive, leading to a franchise problem. In Fast X, director Louis Leterrier cast the largest and most star-studded ensemble yet, which has now become a concern.
The hefty price tag of $340 million for Fast X can be attributed, in part, to its extensive cast. While the cast is undoubtedly a major draw for the franchise, it also has consequences for the storytelling. With so many characters to contend with, individual roles are often underdeveloped or shoehorned into the plot. For example, Mia's character, played by Jordana Brewster, has little significance beyond one action scene. The dynamic between characters like Han and Deckard Shaw is also constrained by the sheer number of characters in the film. While it's exciting to see Gal Gadot return to the franchise, it remains unclear how yet another character will fit into the already crowded narrative moving forward.
