Vanessa Hudgens discovered a positive outcome after breaking up with Austin Butler. This experience eventually led her to her current husband, Cole Tucker.
In a recent episode of the "She Pivots" podcast on Wednesday, March 6, Hudgens, who is 35 years old, shared details about her past relationships. This included her nine-year long relationship with Butler, who is 32 years old. (The breakup was confirmed exclusively in 2020.)
When host Emily Tisch Sussman asked about a past obstacle that influenced her success, Hudgens revealed that she believes a lot of her strength and growth came from her past breakups.
Reflecting on her journey, she mentioned that her most recent breakup played a significant role in propelling her to a unique and fulfilling stage in her life, ultimately leading to her marriage.
Hudgens attributed her heartbreak to leading her to the right person, whom she is grateful for. She praised Tucker, 27, as the most supportive and understanding human being she has ever met.
Their relationship rumors began when they were seen holding hands in public in 2020.
Months later, Hudgens revealed that she and Tucker had met on a “Zoom mediation group,” and he slid into her DMs.

Cole Tucker and Vanessa Hudgens have been dating. Vanessa shared with Entertainment Tonight that Cole is perfect for her and makes her happy. She emphasized the importance of staying grateful for everything in life, and how prioritizing gratitude has brought magic into their relationship.
Tucker expressed his admiration for Hudgens during an interview at a training session.
"I have a girlfriend and she's amazing. I really care about her," he shared with reporters. "She's fantastic and you'll get to meet her soon. It's all good, just like the headline says."
The couple was committed to staying together despite their hectic schedules. According to a source who spoke exclusively to Us in October 2021, they were "going strong" and "still very much a part of each other's lives."
The source also mentioned that Hudgens is very supportive of Tucker's career. When she is unable to attend his games, she makes sure to send him good luck texts to show her support.
"They make sure to schedule fun dates whenever they can, but even when they're apart, they stay connected through FaceTime and constant communication," shared a source. "It's clear that they are a perfect match."
Tucker popped the question to the High School Musical star towards the end of 2022, and the two lovebirds exchanged vows the next year. Prior to their wedding, Hudgens mentioned on Today With Hoda and Jenna that she was considering taking Tucker's last name.
Butler, meanwhile, has been dating Kaia Gerber since late 2021. Earlier this year, Butler told Esquire that he still has “so much love” for Hudgens after their breakup.
