Cameras began documenting the daily lives of the staff at SUR, Lisa Vanderpump's popular West Hollywood restaurant, in 2012. This came after Lisa gained fame on the reality TV show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The first season of the spin-off show, Pump Rules, premiered in January 2013 and featured Lisa, Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Kristen Doute, Tom Sandoval, Kristen Doute, and Scheana Shay. Additionally, recurring roles were played by Tom Schwartz, Tina McDowelle, Peter Madrigal, Laura-Leigh, Frank Herlihy, Mike Shay, Kristina Kelly, Jen Bush, and Jeremy Davidson.

However, in 2020, the show experienced a major cast shakeup when it was confirmed that Stassi, Kristen, Jax, Brittany Cartwright, Max Boyens, Brett Caprioni, Danica Dow, and Dayna Kathan would not be returning for the ninth season. Three years later, Pump Rules faced its most significant scandal yet with the shocking revelation of Sandoval's affair with Raquel Leviss while he was still in a relationship with Ariana Madix.

Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright

Brittany hinted that the decision to leave Vanderpump Rules was not made by the couple themselves, after they announced their departure in late 2020. (Numerous fans demanded Jax's removal following the backlash over Stassi and Kristen's departures.)

"Implying that we were allowed to express ourselves freely, do you genuinely believe that?" Brittany responded on Instagram, in response to fans pointing out the similarities in their farewell statements.

In April 2021, they joyfully welcomed their son Cruz, and just two months later, they celebrated their second wedding anniversary. Adding to their growing list of accomplishments, in March 2023, they successfully launched their podcast, titled "When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany." Despite their busy schedule post-show departure, exciting news broke in June 2023, as Deadline reported that Jax and Brittany are currently in discussions to appear in a Vanderpump Rules spinoff under development at Bravo.

Stassi Schroeder

Following the revelation of her past racially insensitive remarks, Stassi faced repercussions including termination from her job, the loss of multiple endorsement deals, and the cancellation of her podcast, "Straight Up With Stassi." Despite these professional setbacks, Stassi's personal life flourished as she and Beau tied the knot in a memorable backyard celebration in September 2020. In January 2021, Stassi gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Hartford. The couple then proceeded to launch their Patreon channel, "The Good The Bad The Baby," in March of the same year, and in 2022, "Straight Up With Stassi" made its highly anticipated return.

The couple reaffirmed their commitment in a joyous ceremony held in Rome during May 2022, and their beloved flower girl, Hartford, added an extra touch of enchantment to the occasion. Just months later, in March 2023, Schroeder delightedly revealed the wonderful news that she is expecting her second child.

Stassi and Kristen were both let go by Bravo in 2020 due to their remarks about Faith. In June 2022, it was announced that Kristen and Alex Menache had ended their relationship, as revealed by the He's Making You Crazy author. Six months later, Kristen confirmed that she is now dating Luke Broderick, cohost of the podcast "Sex, Love and What Else Matters."

Kristen participated in the season 10 finale of Pump Rules, which was broadcasted in May 2023. In this episode, she provided support to Ariana following the revelation of Sandoval's unfaithfulness to Raquel. In news released by Deadline in June 2023, it was disclosed that Kristen is currently in discussions to join Jax and Brittany in a Vanderpump Rules spinoff.

The SUR assistant and her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brett Willis, who briefly appeared on the show as well, decided to end their relationship in August 2020. Following a temporary restraining order obtained by her against him, Brett expressed his desire for a peaceful resolution to the situation in a statement to E! News. He explained that their argument occurred during a house party where they were surrounded by her friends, which may have portrayed him negatively. Although it was an intense argument with no physical altercation, both parties were involved in its aggression. Brett emphasized his wish for her to retract her accusations, as they both work in the same establishment and he hopes for a professional and amicable environment. He acknowledged the toxicity of their past relationship and expressed his love for her, while prioritizing his own well-being.

In response, Danica told the outlet: "Brett's version of these events are a complete lie. Brett kept trying to follow me around the party into different rooms and harass me."

Laura-Leigh

Laura-Leigh, known for her departure from SUR following her successful casting in a Jennifer Aniston film (We're the Millers) and her breakup with Jax after attending Alcoholics Anonymous, has maintained her acting career. Following a period on The Client List and various appearances in short films, Laura-Leigh made a guest appearance on a season 10 episode of Blue Bloods.

After short-lived relationships with Peter Madrigal and Jax, the SUR hostess decided to leave the restaurant and pursue her acting career once again, starring in a series of independent films. While going through a challenging time in her personal life in 2019, where she had to obtain a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Hayes Stuppy, Vail also experienced the joy of motherhood. Despite not disclosing the identity of her children's father publicly, she happily welcomed her daughter, Charlie Olivia Grace Bloom, in 2018, followed by the arrival of her son in 2020.

Faith Stowers

After discovering Jax's infidelity with a fellow SURver, Brittany, Faith not only stormed out of the club but also made the decision to leave the network and join MTV. Besides participating in shows like Ex on the Beach and The Challenge, Faith's life took a new turn in February 2020 when she became a mother to her son, welcomed with her boyfriend Marcio Marchena II.

In June 2020, Faith gained significant attention when she publicly addressed the lack of diversity on Vanderpump Rules, being the only person of color to hold a prominent role in the show.

"It was overwhelming," she expressed during her Instagram Live session, pointing out that her colleagues were lenient towards Jax regarding their affair but targeted her instead. "Rather than holding him accountable, they set their sights on attacking me repeatedly. Criticizing my actions, labeling me in derogatory ways, even making disparaging remarks about my hair, which was out of character for them."

Disheartened, the ex-SUR employee also shared her regret about not being given the opportunity to film any confessionals for season 4.

According to Faith, it was odd that everyone on the show had the opportunity to do interviews and confessionals, but she did not. She wanted a chance to share her unique story as a black woman serving in the military at that time. However, she felt that her perspective was not valued or appreciated.

In June 2023, Faith created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for her legal expenses. Her goal was to seek justice against Stassi, as Faith had previously accused Stassi and Kristen of falsely reporting her to the police for a crime she did not commit. Their actions led to Stassi and Kristen being fired from Pump Rules.

In a June 2023 statement to Us, Faith expressed her concerns, stating that Stassi has not shown any signs of learning from her past mistakes. Faith further mentioned that in her book, Stassi continues to claim that Faith has committed a felony. Faith emphasized that such allegations are detrimental to both her career and her family. Determined to put an end to this ongoing issue, Faith has assembled a remarkable legal team and seeks assistance from supporters who are also against bullying and racial division. Together, they hope to resolve this matter once and for all.

"Our lives were forever changed on January 14th at 2:33pm. It has been exactly a week since our precious little girl entered our lives, and we cannot fathom how we ever existed without her," she shared on Instagram. "To all the parents who told us that the love we would feel is indescribable, you were absolutely correct. Please welcome Penelope to the world."

After playing a prominent part in season 1, Tina stepped back during the second season of the show. Despite her dedication to her singing and acting career after her time at SUR, Tina had to take a break to focus on her recovery following a gunshot incident in Los Angeles on Black Friday in November 2019.

“The impact of the bullet caused extensive damage to my body – collapsing my lung, lacerating my liver, puncturing my diaphragm, and breaking my ribs before finally exiting through my back. It was a near-death experience that left a part of me forever altered,” she expressed on a GoFundMe fundraiser page. “I am immensely grateful to the doctors who skillfully saved my life. Your compassion and brilliance leave me in awe. To the nurses who held my hand during moments of unbearable pain, I extend my deepest gratitude. You are my guardian angels.”

Bille Lee

After a dramatic season 7, Billie Lee quit her job at SUR and claimed she was bullied by her coworkers.

In July 2019, she explained how the bullying, both on and off camera, brought her deepest insecurities to the surface. It felt like a dark reflection, displayed for the public to see and pass judgment on. However, she now sees this as a chance to educate and inspire others through her activism work and upcoming projects. Each day holds the potential to reclaim one's dreams, embrace the journey, and live the desired life, regardless of age or sexual orientation. Additionally, she is anticipating the release of her book in 2023.

Stassi later disclosed on her podcast that Frank was the individual who allegedly attempted to sell a sex tape of her to TMZ for $900. Although he has become less active on social media, the author of Next Level Basic mentioned on an episode of her "Straight Up With Stassi" podcast in 2018 that two fans informed her that Frank was residing in a remote area of New York state and working at a deli.

In July 2023, it appeared that Frank had gotten married. The Instagram account @BravoKnowledge shared a photo of Frank donning a tuxedo while walking down the aisle with a woman wearing a wedding dress.
