Despite being initially announced as a free summer update, the highly anticipated release of Counter-Strike 2, a remarkable sequel to the renowned first-person-shooter, is still pending. However, there are hints on social media that this situation might change by September 27.
The official X account of the game recently posed a straightforward question: "What's your plan for next Wednesday?" No further updates have been shared, and Valve, the company behind the game, has not made any official announcements since this post was published.
Counter-Strike 2 was initially revealed in March as a complimentary update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, ensuring that all acquired items in CS:GO would seamlessly transfer to the new installment. A limited testing phase was exclusively offered to existing CS:GO players, who were selected based on factors such as their gameplay hours and Steam account status.
Alongside the initial announcement, three distinct videos were released, elaborating on the game's significant improvements. The notable upgrades encompassed the following aspects:
Leveling Up The World, which focused on map upgrades
Moving Beyond Tick Rate, which detailed new movement and shooting mechanics
Responsive Smokes, featuring the exploration of innovative "dynamic volumetric" smoke grenades, was the prominent topic of discussion.
The Counter-Strike 2 limited test's most recent update was made available on August 31 via the game's official website. This update unveiled the imminent introduction of a new map called Inferno, along with the implementation of the new CS Rating ranking system.
