Valerie Bertinelli Finds Love Again: Meet the Unexpected Man in Her Life Post-Divorce

Valerie Bertinelli, who is 63 years old, shared in an interview with USA Today on March 13 that she has found a new partner in her life. She described this person as "very special" after going through a divorce from Tom Vitale.

The One Day at a Time star shared that her current relationship with a man is unlike any she has ever experienced. She expressed feeling incredibly blessed and lucky to have met him, as it was unexpected.

Bertinelli mentioned that after splitting from her husband of almost 11 years, she didn't have high hopes for finding love. She humorously stated that she was content with the idea of living with her six cats and dog, and was surprised when this new relationship came along unexpectedly.

The Emmy-winning performer attributed her newfound relationship success to the personal growth she has experienced over the years. She expressed gratitude for meeting her partner and forming a strong connection with him, acknowledging that this relationship would not have been possible in the past.

Bertinelli officially filed for divorce from Vitale in May 2022, citing "irreconcilable differences" in the legal paperwork. The couple, who first started dating in 2004 after being introduced by Bertinelli's brother Patrick, got engaged six years later during a trip to Florence, Italy.

Vitale shared with AARP that if the timing wasn't right, he wouldn't have proposed. He mentioned that both of them still had some fears about commitment, but being together felt like their souls were perfectly aligned.

Bertinelli chimed in, mentioning that they had discussed marriage before, but she was still surprised when Vitale popped the question. She found it endearing that he was nervous when he asked, which made her respond with disbelief, saying, "Are you serious?"

Bertinelli has been open about her journey towards healing after her split, using social media to share her experiences. In a February 2023 Instagram video, she discussed the benefits of rolfing, a form of alternative medicine that focuses on soft tissue massage.

She emphasized the idea that emotional pain can be stored in the body, and expressed her commitment to healing in various ways, including therapy, journaling, meditation, and rolfing.

Valerie Bertinelli also had some fun on TikTok recently. She shared a video with the caption, “When someone asks if I’ll start dating again…” In the clip, she laughed and jokingly mouthed, “F–k no.”

On Monday, March 11, Bertinelli revisited the clip and made a playful update. She reposted the video on X and playfully acknowledged her new relationship, saying, “This didn’t age well.”
