The culture that developed in the locker room as a result of the sports media coverage of this story was unpleasant, highlighting the persisting issues of sexism and misogyny in the field of men's sports, and the sense of entitlement that many men have towards women and their attention.

Despite attending the Chiefs game, Taylor Swift's public relations team seemed keen on managing expectations for the budding relationship.
