A recent leak for Genshin Impact has provided more information about a character named Lyney, who is expected to make an appearance in the Fontaine region. The game's official social media accounts have confirmed that Lyney will be introduced in version 4.0, along with two other characters.
Lynette, Lyney's sister and assistant, will be one of these characters, and there will also be a new four-star unit called Freminet. Players of Genshin Impact will need to wait a few weeks to add any of these characters to their collection, as update 4.0 is scheduled to be released in the second half of August.
Lyney's official splash art has confirmed him as a new Pyro character, expected to be a five-star rarity. Recent rumors suggest he will be a bow user. A trusted Genshin Impact leaker named merlin_impact has shared more information about Lyney's abilities. According to the leak, Lyney's Charged Attack will have two levels based on charging time. The first level functions like a regular Charged Attack, dealing increased Pyro damage. The Level 2 attack allows Lyney to summon a Grin-Malkin Hat upon hitting an enemy.
The Grin-Malkin Hat taunts nearby enemies, drawing their attacks similar to Mona's Elemental Skill. If the hat explodes, it inflicts additional Pyro damage to a nearby enemy. When using this attack, Lyney sacrifices a portion of his HP to gain 1 Prop Surplus Stack. This effect is limited to five stacks and can only be triggered if Lyney's HP is above 60%.
Lyney possesses an Elemental Skill named Bewildering Lights. Upon activation, this skill eliminates all Prop Surplus stacks and deals area-of-effect Pyro damage. The damage inflicted is determined by Lyney's ATK stat and the number of stacks. Additionally, using this skill triggers an explosion of the Grin-Malkin Hat, resulting in supplementary area-of-effect Pyro damage.
Furthermore, Lyney's Elemental Burst, known as Wondrous Trick: Miracle Parade, permits him to transform into a Grin-Malkin Cat, granting him heightened movement speed akin to Kirara's Meow-teor Kick. In this state, approaching enemies will subject them to Pyro damage. Lyney can revert to his human form using his Elemental Skill, which triggers another explosion and summons one Grin-Malkin Hat while acquiring a Prop Surplus stack.
Numerous fans within the comment section speculate that Lyney and the four-star character Bennett, widely considered the most proficient Pyro user in the game, will possess exceptional synergy.
Genshin Impact is available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is currently under development.
