Where to Find Fire-Breath LizalfosWhere to Use Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tails
In Tears of the Kingdom, various monsters exist, each with their own unique materials that they drop. These monster parts are vital for enhancing armor or creating elixirs. Among these materials are the Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tails.
Different from regular Lizalfos Tails, these Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tails can only be acquired by battling the appropriately-named Fire-Breath Lizalfos. These reptile-like creatures tend to inhabit the warmer regions of Hyrule. Within Tears of the Kingdom, these tails serve as essential components for upgrading two sets of armor that Link can obtain over the course of his adventure.
Where to Find Fire-Breath Lizalfos
Fire-Breath Lizalfos are known to spawn in the Gerudo Canyon and Eldin's Flank, despite their Hyrule Compendium entry stating otherwise. Interestingly, defeating a Fire-Breath Lizalfos increases the likelihood of obtaining a Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horn rather than a Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tail. As a result, players may need to defeat multiple Lizalfos in order to obtain at least one tail.
Fortunately, Fire-Breath Lizalfos can be easily defeated with Ice-based attacks. Players can use items such as an Ice Fruit, White Chuchu Jelly, or a weapon infused with a Sapphire to dispose of them in a single shot.
To make farming easier, players should obtain the Camera by speaking to Robbie ("Camera Work in The Depths") alongside Josha at Lookout Landing. The Sensor+ feature of Purah Pad cannot track the tails, but it can track Fire-Breath Lizalfos.
Then, they'll need to get the Auto-Build Ability at the Great Abandoned Central Mine.
Return to Lookout Landing, speak to Josha, and use Auto-Build to repair Robbie's hot-air balloon.
After Robbie's return to the Ancient Tech Lab in Hateno Village, players have the opportunity to begin a side quest for the Sensor+ and Hyrule Compendium.
To add the Fire-Breath Lizalfos to the compendium, players simply need to take a picture of it. Afterwards, they can track the Fire-Breath Lizalfos by accessing the map with the (-) button and pressing the Y-button to select and track any registered entries in the compendium. The Sensor+ will then alert Link if a nearby Fire-Breath Lizalfos is detected.
Eldin's Flank
Fire-Breath Lizalfos can often be found walking along the path of Eldin's Flank. To locate them, follow the path north of the Sibajitak Shrine (2398, 3269, 0402). Around coordinates 2315, 3518, 0351, players will encounter the first Fire-Breath Lizalfos. Continue along the winding path down Eldin's Flank to discover two more Fire-Breath Lizalfos.
In addition, there are Fire-Breath Lizalfos residing above the Moshapin Shrine (2680, 1902, 0131) within Lake Intenoch Cave. Within this area, players should be able to locate three Fire-Breath Lizalfos scattered throughout.
Gerudo Canyon
Head south of the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower (-2423, -2202, 0302) to find a camp consisting of three Fire-Breath Lizalfos. To reach the camp, players can either glide from the Skyview Tower towards the coordinates -2375, -2297, 0312, or simply walk there.
It's important to note that the Fire-Breath Lizalfos only appear during the daytime. In contrast, the camp is inhabited by Ice-Breath Lizalfos at night.
To venture into Gerudo Canyon, players must equip heat-resistant armor or obtain a heat-resistant buff. The Desert Voe Headband, available at Kara Kara Bazaar (-3273, -2551, 0023), offers one level of heat-resistance. Additionally, the remaining pieces of the Desert Voe Set can be purchased at the Gerudo Secret Shop in Gerudo Town (-3875, -2864, 0043).
If players prefer to use an Elixir, they can cook a monster part with a Cold Darner, White ChuchuJelly, or a Winterwing Butterfly to get a Chilly Elixir.
Where to Use Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tails
The Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tails possess the ability to enhance weapons, transforming a simple whip into a formidable weapon. They can also be affixed to arrows, imbuing them with the power of fire and turning them into incendiary projectiles. However, their optimal utilization lies in augmenting armor for superior upgrades.
The Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tails are necessary to upgrade both the Snowquill Set and the Yiga Set. You can assist the Stable Trotters in awakening the Great Fairies during the "Serenade to a Great Fairy" side quest in the "Lucky Clover Gazette" side adventure.
