Destiny 2's Solstice 2023 event appears to have fallen short of Bungie's expectations. The community has wasted no time in criticizing the developer's handling of the game, leading to a growing apathy towards Destiny. Despite the allure of new armor and cosmetic items, many players are finding it difficult to justify logging back into the game during the ongoing annual celebration. This lack of enthusiasm is having a negative impact on some players, who are opting to skip seasonal content and wait for the next year's Final Shape DLC.
Following the release of the Lightfall DLC, Bungie's Destiny 2 has received mixed responses, resulting in a decrease in player satisfaction with the game's current direction. This dissatisfaction has translated into a notably negative reaction towards the latest Solstice event, with numerous players expressing their disappointment. Some players have even gone as far as labeling Solstice 2023 as another failure for Bungie.
In a detailed analysis, Forbes' Paul Tassi sheds light on the reasons behind this negativity. He suggests that the replacement of the previously engaging Destiny 2 European Aerial Zone activity with a simpler and less interesting Bonfire Bash may be one factor. Tassi further explains that most players will only participate in this year's Solstice event to acquire the new armor sets, leaving those who prioritize cosmetic customization frustrated as the new shaders are once again locked behind microtransactions.
Destiny 2's new Crowning Duologue rocket launcher leaves something to be desired, as its perks do not complement each other effectively. Solstice 2023 has multiple issues, leading many players to view it as a failure and criticize Bungie.
Additionally, the community has noticed that Bungie has reduced communication regarding Destiny 2 due to harassment targeted at their developers. As a result, players should not expect much communication from Bungie in the near future, which is not beneficial for the game.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
