During this year's Hallow's End holiday, World of Warcraft players will experience a notable change in one aspect of the event. This revelation came from players who logged into the Patch 10.1.7 public test realm (PTR) to uncover any secrets hidden in the upcoming Fury Incarnate content update.
Hallow's End takes place annually in the latter part of October and serves as World of Warcraft's version of Halloween. It is a time of celebration and contemplation for both the Forsaken and the Worgen, depending on the player's chosen faction. Throughout the festivities, the menacing Headless Horseman wreaks havoc and sets ablaze to villages across Azeroth while mocking and challenging players from atop his prized mount. As Hallow's End approaches this fall, World of Warcraft players will encounter a noticeable difference when confronting the Headless Horseman.
The Scarlet Monastery, home to the fanatical Scarlet Crusade and resting place of the Headless Horseman, received some new additions in Patch 10.1.7 PTR. According to Wowhead, the changes were limited to the graveyard area of the Forlorn Cloister. This is the first significant update the Scarlet Monastery has seen since the Mists of Pandaria expansion in 2012. Normally, the graveyard is filled with hostile Scarlet Crusaders, but during Hallow's End, they are absent, replaced by a burning jack-o-lantern that players can use to summon and fight the Headless Horseman. Wowhead suggests that these environmental changes on the PTR could be part of World of Warcraft's upcoming holiday refresh in Patch 10.1.7 this fall.
In the World of Warcraft: Classic era, the Scarlet Monastery was a complex four-part dungeon that required careful tactics and crowd control to navigate. This reputation made it one of the toughest dungeons in the game at the time. However, with the release of Mists of Pandaria, the Scarlet Monastery was condensed into two wings, and both the environment and boss encounters were altered to suit the game's modern era.
The Fury Incarnate update offers various transformations for World of Warcraft players to explore, located between the graveyard of Scarlet Monastery and the recently crowned leader of the black dragonflight. Whether additional alterations will be made to older areas remains uncertain for now.
World of Warcraft is currently accessible on PC.
