Unveiling the Secrets of Lower City in Baldur's Gate 3

Players who reach Act 3 in Baldur's Gate 3 will eventually arrive at the outskirts of a city called Rivington. Unfortunately, access to the Lower City is initially not possible. This leads to confusion among many players who are unsure of how to proceed with their story. However, there is still hope.

Baldur's Gate 3 presents players with two choices to reach the Lower City. One option is relatively straightforward, while the other poses a greater challenge. Luckily, this guide will shed light on both methods, providing players with a clear path to the Lower City.

How to Get to the Lower City

Get the Official Entry Pass

The Lower City can be accessed by players using either of two routes: the Wymrock Fortress or the Rivington crossing. The choice of approach depends on players' preferred playstyle - whether they prefer to sneak their way in or charge in guns blazing.

To get to the Lower City via the official entry pass, follow these steps:

Go to the Open Hand Temple.

Find Valeria, who will be talking to his Sister Yannis.

Talk to Yannis to start the quest Open Hand Temple Murders.

Investigate the crime scene, a crypt underneath the temple.

Search the crypt for two buttons on a wall in the second room. Press the buttons to access a secret passage.

Three shapeshifters will attack the player. Kill them to get the Key with a Flower Motif.

There is a hole nearby with the murder weapon.

Visit Fraygo’s Flophouse and access a secret room using the key from before through the wardrobe on the third floor.

Investigate the secret room and report back to Valeria at Sharess’ Caress.

Valeria will give the player access to the Lower City and provide instructions to talk to Gauntlet Devella.

Sneak Past the Guards

To get to the Lower City by sneaking past the guards, follow these steps:

Go to Wyrm’s Rock Fortress.

Locate and go down the ladder on the right side of the guards.

Use the Feather Falling spell to jump across the broken edge of the fence without taking damage.

Go around the wall to reach a broken wall. Here, players can enter Wyrm’s Rock Prison.

Move a bit further to come across another wall and break it.

In prison, the guards will automatically mistake the player for a prisoner. To prove otherwise, players must successfully pass a Deception check. Failure to do so will require the player to overcome all guards in the surrounding area.

To gain a valuable ally for future endeavors, locate Counsellor Florrick and release her.

Lockpick the prison entrance door and get access to the Lower City.
