During the previous main scenario quests of Final Fantasy 16, Clive and Jill uncovered a disturbing truth about the Mothercrystals. These supposedly blessed giant crystals are, in reality, the source of the Blight that is transforming Valisthea into a desolate realm. The solution to halt this devastating process is considered unthinkable to many: the destruction of the Mothercrystals.

In the nineteenth main scenario quest, "The Crystals' Curse," Cid's ambitious plan to eliminate one of the Mothercrystals is set into motion. Final Fantasy 16 players can anticipate an adrenaline-fueled experience as they embark on this quest.

This walkthrough contains, so players should proceed with caution.

Go through the Glass Gate

After the cutscenes conclude, accompany Cid as he leads you through a doorway straight ahead. Proceed in a direct path to enter an expansive room occupied by several enemy soldiers. Neutralize the hostile forces before progressing towards the barricaded passageway. Demolish the barricade by pressing the 'X' button and advance further through a narrow tunnel. Ahead lies another spacious area guarded by a sizeable mob of enemies. Descend and confront them, preparing yourself for an imminent boss battle.

How to Beat Imperial Cannonier

The massive soldier carries a mortar, a powerful cannon capable of launching numerous projectile attacks. Prepare to evade these attacks and stay alert. Moreover, the Imperial Cannonier employs a close-range flamethrower attack. To avoid being hit by the flames, continuously move away from the boss. Additionally, apart from ranged assaults, the boss intermittently attempts to strike players with the cannon.

Once the boss's health is depleted, a transformation occurs, initiating phase two. The boss will utilize identical attacks as in phase one, all while shooting across the arena from their cannon. Evade their assaults and diminish their health once again to ultimately defeat them.

Go Through the Mines

After defeating the boss, proceed by opening the gate directly ahead. Take the right path and utilize the wall switch to venture deeper into the mines. Upon exiting the elevator, take note of an item on both the left and right sides, as well as a chest near the upcoming tunnel. Be sure to collect these before progressing any further.

On the opposite side of the tunnel, you will encounter workers who have been transformed due to the high concentration of aether in the mine's atmosphere. Subdue them and then break through the barricade to continue deeper into the mines. Leap across the gap in the bridge to trigger a short cutscene, followed by continuing to move forward. In the next area, keep an eye out for a treasure chest located to the right of the mine cart tracks, near a hole in the wall.

Progress is hindered by an imposing gate obstructing the path. Utilize the level on the adjacent wall to unlatch the gateway and pave the way forward. It is crucial to restore vitality before venturing further, for an adversary of increased tenacity awaits ahead, accompanied by several minor foes. As players engage in combat with the formidable foe, additional smaller adversaries will intermittently emerge to join the fray. Eliminate them all before proceeding and then follow the tracks of the mine cart to reach another breakable barrier.

Approach the Inner Sanctum

To continue on the path, cast your gaze towards the left, where a sturdy metal grate obstructs your way. Prior to engaging with it, swivel to the right and seize the loot from the chest. Then, proceed to interact with the gate and unleash a forceful kick to bring it down, allowing you to advance further. As you emerge from the opposite side of the tunnel, a captivating cutscene begins to unfold. Descend the deteriorated staircase to draw nearer to the magnificent Mothercrystal. Within the depths of the stairs, players will once again encounter the same adversaries they initially crossed paths with during the "Buried Memories" quest.

After vanquishing the spectral adversaries, proceed to open the door and proceed towards the majestic Mothercrystal. Within the upcoming chamber lies yet another formidable Lich, ready to be conquered. Eliminate this foe and advance to the subsequent chamber. It is crucial to replenish your health before approaching the gateway that grants access to the inner sanctum. As you gaze upon the vast expanse that lies ahead, it becomes evident that only one outcome awaits.

How to Beat the Akashic Dragon

After a captivating cutscene, players of Final Fantasy 16 will be thrust into an intense battle against a formidable dragon. This colossal boss unleashes powerful strikes with its wings and launches a destructive laser beam from its menacing mouth. Evading these potent attacks is paramount, so make every effort to avoid them while swiftly attempting to weaken the boss. It's worth noting that the boss will occasionally spin around and employ its tail in its assault as well.

Around 60% health,

the boss will ascend into the sky and unleash Cauterize. Throughout this assault, scorching flames will emanate from its gaping mouth, traversing the entire arena in a sweeping zig-zag manner. Observe the attack pattern attentively and swiftly evade the inferno. Following this, the boss will resume employing its regular repertoire of attacks.

When the boss reaches approximately 20% health, it will unleash a move called Dragon Dance, showering players with a barrage of flame attacks. Stay nimble and avoid these projectiles, as they will track your movements. Persist in your pursuit of the dragon, and eventually it will succumb. After the ensuing cutscene concludes, advance toward the inner sanctum by passing through the gate.

Proceed up towards the Mothercrystal, while remaining vigilant for a chest located on the left side near a staircase. When prepared, ascend the stairs to initiate a cutscene and engage in yet another boss battle.

How to Beat Typhon

Following the cutscene, players will be transported to an enigmatic dimension where they must confront the monstrous entity known as Typhon. As the battle commences, a horde of smaller adversaries will emerge. Engage in combat with these foes while evading Typhon's assaults. Pay close attention to Typhon's line attack and the circles that materialize on the ground. Once you have vanquished a sufficient number of enemies, a thrilling Cinematic Evasion sequence will ensue.

The battle against Typhon commences, but instead of assuming the role of Clive, players will undergo a transformation into Ifrit. Initially, Typhon executes a downward swing with his right hand, which is easily discernible, allowing players ample time to evade and continue their relentless assault on Typhon.

As Typhon's health nears the halfway point, he unleashes an ability called Unending Clamor. It is advisable to concentrate solely on evading this attack and patiently await its conclusion before resuming the offensive. Subsequently, Typhon proceeds to employ more projectile-based assaults, as opposed to relying solely on close-quarters combat. It is pivotal to maintain the offensive and steadily diminish Typhon's health.

Once Typhon reaches this stage, he will undergo a transformation, requiring players to engage him in battle once again. However, Typhon's new form intensifies his aggression, making his attacks more potent. In particular, his Unending Clamor ability will now summon not one, but three circles. As Typhon's health dwindles to 60%, he will execute the Demon Wall technique. To avoid sustaining excessive damage, swiftly maneuver through the gaps in each shifting wall.

Thankfully, players have six Firelights at their disposal during this boss fight, which can be used to facilitate healing.

As Typhon's health decreases, his attacks become more frequent and he starts combining them in a way that leaves little room for players to maneuver. When Typhon's health drops below 10%, a sequence of Cinematic Evasions and Clashes will occur. By successfully completing this sequence, players will have defeated Typhon. After the battle, a series of cutscenes will play, marking the end of the current main scenario quest.
