Following the revelation in the finale of Loki season 1, the announcement of season 2 marks Marvel's first second season for any Disney+ Marvel TV show. Building upon the events of Secret Invasion, the series is penned by Eric Martin, who previously worked on the first season, and will consist of six episodes. Meanwhile, the directing duties will be taken on by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, known for their work on Moon Knight.
With an ensemble cast that features familiar faces from the first season and exciting new additions, Loki season 2 promises to solidify the significance of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) within the MCU. Here is a comprehensive list of all confirmed characters for the upcoming season, including both new Marvel entities and returning characters from Loki season 1.
Loki Season 2's New Marvel Characters
Ke Huy Quan as OB - TVA Repair Man
Ke Huy Quan has been cast as OB, a TVA agent working in the Repairs & Advancements department. OB serves as the TVA's tech support, responsible for fixing various issues, including Loki's time-slipping, which he deems "impossible" according to the timeline's logic. Ke Huy Quan is widely recognized for his outstanding child acting skills and his Academy Award-winning performance in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. The news of his addition to the cast of Loki season 2 was officially announced at the 2022 D23 Expo. Given Quan's expertise in stunt choreography, it is highly anticipated that his character will have significant action sequences, despite initial impressions.
Jonathan Majors as Victor Timely
Jonathan Majors made his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) during the first season of Loki, where he laid the groundwork for Kang's prominent role in the future of the MCU. With He Who Remains no longer alive and Kang The Conqueror eliminated in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, this paves the way for the introduction of a completely new Kang variant in season 2. Majors will portray the character of Victor Timely, as revealed in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania witnessed by Loki and Mobius. Victor Timely is a scientist who has created advanced technology that explores the concept of time, and he also happens to dabble in a side gig performing in a circus. The trailer for Loki season 2 also hinted at the existence of numerous other Kang variants, although due to behind-the-scenes controversies involving Jonathan Majors, his presence in the teaser may have been downsized.
Rafael Casal as Brad Wolfe/Zaniac
In a surprising twist unveiled in the season 2 trailer of Loki, Rafael Casal's casting as Brad Wolfe, a beloved actor in a Zaniac film, has been confirmed. In the original Marvel Comics storyline, Wolfe, an actor himself, becomes possessed by the true Zaniac, a sinister villain dispatched to Earth by Dormammu. Possessing the ability to summon energy daggers, the newly introduced footage hints at Wolfe possibly aligning with the ranks of the secondary antagonists.
Kate Dickie as Unknown
Every Returning Loki Character In Season 2
Kate Dickie, with her extensive stage experience, has graced the screens in popular productions such as Game of Thrones and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Although her role is yet to be officially confirmed, reports indicate that she will portray a villain in the eagerly anticipated Loki season 2. In the trailer, she can be seen engaging in a brief but intense battle with Sylvie, piquing viewers' curiosity. Interestingly, she is attired in a suit reminiscent of Owen Wilson's Mobius, the TVA agent from season 1. There are rumors circulating that she may be portraying an older version of Sylvie, further adding to the intrigue surrounding her character.
Tom Hiddleston as Loki
Making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during Phase 1 in Thor, Tom Hiddleston has become a notable presence in this universe for over a decade. Initially introduced as Thor's brother, the mischievous God of Mischief, Loki has always had a reputation for causing trouble. While initially portrayed as a villain, Loki has gradually transformed into more of an anti-hero throughout the course of the MCU. His cunning plots have consistently landed him in hot water, but he has managed to cheat death on multiple occasions. Despite meeting his demise at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Loki was granted a new lease on life when the Avengers traveled back in time to 2012 in Avengers: Endgame. Initially taken back to Asgard for judgement, Loki skillfully evaded capture this time, absconding with the Tesseract and triggering the events that would unfold in Loki season 1. By the end of the season, nobody within the Time Variance Authority (TVA) recognizes Loki, setting the stage for season 2, which will see our protagonist striving to regain their trust while simultaneously dealing with the ramifications of his own time-traveling glitches.
Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius
Introduced in season 1, Owen Wilson's character Mobius serves as a TVA agent responsible for handling particularly dangerous crimes. He recruits the 2012 Loki variant to assist him in investigating an imminent threat to the TVA, which leads to the development of an unconventional friendship between the two. Initially depicted as a dedicated employee and one of the organization's top agents, Mobius eventually betrays the TVA when he learns the truth about their questionable practices. Discovering that he himself is a variant and that the Time-Keepers are a fabrication, Mobius becomes a staunch ally for the Loki variants. Although the Mobius variant encountered by Loki in the season 1 finale does not remember him, season 2 reunites the duo for an adventurous journey through time to save the multiverse.
Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie
A female variant of Loki, Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie, demonstrated the vast array of possibilities that exist within the multiverse of Lokis. Initially introduced as an unknown variant attacking the TVA, Sylvie's origin story unveils the reason behind her actions. Having been abducted by the TVA as a child, Sylvie spent the majority of her life evading detection within various timelines while seeking revenge against the organization. Eventually, she forms an alliance with Loki after successfully convincing him of the TVA's deceit. However, Sylvie herself learns that the TVA was actually established by He Who Remains, a variant of Kang. It is Sylvie who directly triggers the events leading to Loki season 2, as her act of killing He Who Remains results in the expansion of the multiverse. Sylvie reappears as an ostensibly antagonistic presence, engaging in philosophical clashes with Loki, before ultimately choosing a side as she discovers the imminent demise of the multiverse.
Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer
When Loki first arrives at the TVA in season 1, Ravonna Renslayer is one of the first people he encounters. Gugu Mbatha-Raw's character, Ravonna, serves as the judge who initially finds Loki guilty. However, Mobius convinces her to utilize Loki's variant abilities for the benefit of the TVA. Ravonna, once a hunter herself, was responsible for kidnapping Sylvie when she was a child. Despite discovering the truth about the organization's origins, Ravonna remains fiercely loyal to the TVA. This loyalty strains her friendship with Mobius, but there is potential for Ravonna's redemption and a more action-oriented role for her in Loki season 2. In the end of season 1, Ravonna departs from the TVA by choice, and this new mindset may result in her reuniting with Mobius.
Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15
Wunmi Mosaku enters the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Loki season 1, portraying the character Hunter B-15, a skilled and influential member of the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Exhibiting exceptional proficiency in her role, she is the one responsible for first apprehending Loki. However, when Sylvie uncovers B-15's forgotten memories, leading her to recognize her true past, Hunter B-15 rebels against the TVA. Joining forces with Loki, Sylvie, and Mobius, she aids in uncovering the truth. As the first season reaches its conclusion, B-15 becomes one of the numerous TVA agents replaced within the alternate TVA governed by Kang The Conqueror. In the forthcoming second season of Loki, B-15, alongside Mobius and Loki, embarks on a time-traveling journey while simultaneously divulging aspects of her own history.
Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E
Casey, a member of the TVA staff, is responsible for collecting and organizing evidence for the organization. Loki's initial encounter with Casey reveals that the TVA might not be exactly what it appears to be. While initially serving as a source of comedic relief, Eugene Cordero's character, Casey, has been elevated to a series regular for season 2, indicating a more significant role for him in the upcoming episodes. Additionally, since the original Casey from season 1 was replaced by a variant when Kang The Conqueror took over, there is an opportunity for the show to delve deeper into Casey's character and potentially expose him to challenging situations.
Tara Strong as Miss Minutes
Tara Strong lends her voice to Miss Minutes, an artificial intelligence in the form of an animated clock. Created by He Who Remains to oversee the TVA, she discreetly spreads propaganda among the agency's staff. Despite this, she ultimately proves her loyalty to her creator by attempting to negotiate a deal between Loki and Sylvie. Miss Minutes is set to make a return to the TVA, as hinted in the Loki season 2 trailer, where a colossal kaiju version of her is seen menacing the timeline.
