Marvel Studios has unveiled the trailer for Loki season 2, which will premiere on October 6. The trailer features the return of Jonathan Majors' Kang to the MCU and brings together Tom Hiddleston's Loki and Owen Wilson's Mobius. Additionally, Ke Huy Quan joins the cast as the new character OB. The trailer showcases Loki's ability to navigate through different timelines and provides a glimpse into a foreboding future where the world is on the brink of destruction.
Season 1 of Loki ended on a cliffhanger, with Sylvie killing He Who Remains and causing the collapse of the Sacred Timeline, resulting in the emergence of the multiverse. Upon returning to the TVA, Loki discovers that everything has changed in his absence: Mobius has no recollection of their previous alliance, and Kang now leads the organization. The post-credits scene in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania revealed Loki and Mobius pursuing a new variant of Kang named Victor Timely, who makes a brief appearance in the trailer. Loki season 2 continues to explore these narrative threads, as shown in the trailer released by Marvel Studios. Loki Season 2 Trailer Quietly Introduces New Kang Variant (& Another Marvel Villain)
The Loki season 2 trailer does not heavily feature Jonathan Majors' Kang character, but instead briefly showcases a new Kang variant named Victor Timely in a historical setting. In their quest to fix the timeline, Loki and Mobius travel back to this time period. Given Jonathan Majors' recent controversies, it's not surprising that the trailer focuses more on the concept of time-slipping. Nonetheless, Timely remains an important part of the story and is portrayed as an ingenious inventor reminiscent of Thomas Edison, captivating an audience at a circus with his control over electricity.
Furthermore, the Loki season 2 trailer introduces Brad Wolfe (played by Rafael Casal), who is better known in Marvel Comics as the serial killing villain Zaniac. In the comics, Wolfe is an actor who unknowingly becomes possessed by the real Zaniac. The trailer suggests that Wolfe is a renowned actor starring in a Zaniac movie. While his role in the main Loki season 2 storyline is not entirely clear, he appears to be a secondary antagonist.
Loki season 2 premieres Friday, October 6 on Disney+.
