Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway will be reuniting in the psychological thriller "Mother’s Instinct" after their roles in Armageddon Time. The film, a remake of the 2018 French-language movie of the same name by Oliver Masset-Depasse, will explore the lives of two best friends in the 1960s whose perfect lives are shattered by a tragic accident involving one of their children.
In October 2022, Hathaway stated that her role in Mother’s Instinct was "the most challenging role [she has] ever taken on."
"It tapped into my deepest fears, and I considered withdrawing from the film because I wasn't sure if I could fully embody the character as an actress," she shared with Vogue Hong Kong.
Chastain later confessed that she and Hathaway had a great time filming Mother’s Instinct together.
“It’s a throwback to another… I like to think of it as a nod to What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?,” Chastain shared with Indie Wire at the 28th Annual Chaplin Gala in April 2023. “The tension I think is very intriguing. Thank goodness Annie and I adore each other, so it’s a bit different from that experience.”

On January 9, 2024, Chastain shared that the movie will be coming soon to theaters in the UK and Ireland.

Is There a ‘Mother’s Instinct’ Trailer?
The Studio Canal UK released the trailer in 2024, which begins with Celine (Hathaway) driving in the car with her two sons singing a song. It then transitions to Alice (Chastain) confiding in Celine that she is a “terrible mother” shortly before Celine’s son falls from the second-story porch to his death.
After the tragedy, Alice tries to console her friend, only to later worry about her son Theo's increasing closeness to Celine. The trailer ends with Alice's husband accusing her of losing touch with reality.
