The Story of Hades 2

Hades 2 is a direct sequel to the original game, set after the events of Hades. The game will continue to focus on Greek mythology, but with a shift in protagonist to Zagreus' sister, Melinoe. She is a goddess daughter of Hades and Persephone, closely associated with nightmares and madness. In the game, Melinoe will face Chronos, the Titan of Time and leader of the Titans, who has seemingly kidnapped Hades.

Supergiant has revealed that Hades 2 will place a greater emphasis on witchcraft. The studio explains that witchcraft is central to many Greek myths, including those that inspired the original Hades. Hecate, the Goddess of Witchcraft and Crossroads, plays a significant role in the main myth concerning Hades and Persephone. She was also one of the key deities worshipped by many cultures across Ancient Greece for thousands of years. As such, Hecate may take on a mentor role for Melinoe, similar to Achilles' role in Hades.

The Technical Details in Hades 2

Hades 2 is set to be an exciting new addition to the rogue-like dungeon crawler genre, promising even larger Underworld locations than its predecessor, along with fresh challenges and upgrade systems. Melinoe, a witch and magic-user, boasts a unique set of abilities that differ greatly from Zagreus's. Her combat skills are focused on magical abilities and stealth-based tactics, making use of smaller weapons such as her scythe and dagger, as seen in the trailer and official art.

In Hades 2, Olympus is on Melinoe's side, just as they were for Zagreus in the previous game.
