Summary
Significant characters such as Kaido, Big Mom, Imu, Kozuki Oden, Yamato, Germa 66, Dr. Vegapunk, Admiral Fujitora, and adult Sabo will not be part of the upcoming One Piece live-action Netflix remake.
These significant characters from the original manga and anime may not make an appearance in the Netflix series due to their late introductions or the show's limited time frame. Though the Netflix adaptation strives to faithfully represent the original material, fans who are aware of their significance in the One Piece universe may be disappointed by their absence.
The upcoming One Piece live-action Netflix remake will most likely exclude these ten crucial characters. With the highly anticipated series set to be released in a matter of days, the show creators and actors have assured fans that it will be a faithful adaptation of the long-standing manga. While Netflix's live-action version will have to make certain creative adjustments to fully capture the essence of the anime, it is expected to satisfy both existing fans and attract new viewers.
Due to the limited duration of only eight episodes, the Netflix version of One Piece will be unable to cover all the source material of the East Blue Saga. This saga comprises 100 manga chapters and 61 anime episodes, meaning that certain less significant plot points and characters will have to be omitted in order to maintain a faster pace. The original creator of One Piece, Eiichiro Oda, has already cautioned Netflix about his concerns and has expressed that he may not fully support the series if it fails to meet his expectations. Here are ten important One Piece characters that are unlikely to make an appearance in Netflix's adaptation.
10 Kaido
9 Big Mom
: The formidable character known as Kaido made his first appearance in the One Piece anime in the 736th episode titled "Sending a Shock Wave - The Worst Generation Goes Into Action!". Kaido holds a significant role as one of the primary antagonists throughout the entire story of One Piece. However, due to his late introduction in the series, it is unlikely that he will make an appearance in the Netflix adaptation of the popular anime. Kaido is renowned as one of the former Four Emperors, a group consisting of the world's most powerful pirates. He is notably recognized as the "Strongest Creature" in the One Piece anime, although his presence in the Netflix series remains uncertain.
First introduced in One Piece episode 571 of the anime, Charlotte Linlin, also known as Big Mom, currently leads the Big Mom Pirates and was once one of the Four Emperors, a group that ruled over the New World. Notably, she was the lone female member holding such a prestigious position. Similar to Kaido, another powerful adversary in the One Piece universe, it is unlikely that Big Mom will make an appearance in the upcoming Netflix live-action remake anytime soon.
8 Imu
7 Kozuki Oden
The enigmatic character Imu made its debut in the 885th episode of the iconic anime One Piece, titled "In the Dark Recesses of the Holyland - A Mysterious Giant Straw Hat". Imu, concealed as the true sovereign of the World Government in the One Piece universe, commands unwavering loyalty from the Five Elders. Due to Imu's belated introduction in the anime and the deliberate secrecy surrounding their existence, as it is crucial to uphold the façade of a world without a sole ruler, it is improbable that the Netflix series will delve into Imu's storyline.
Kozuki Oden makes his debut in "A Legendary Samurai - The Man Who Roger Admired!" episode, the 910th installment of the One Piece anime. Due to his late introduction in the anime, it is doubtful that he will feature in the Netflix live-action series without certain artistic liberties. Kozuki Oden, an aspiring pirate, takes on the role of the leader of the Nine Red Scabbards, a formidable and resourceful group of samurai within the vast universe of One Piece.
6 The Holy Knights
The Holy Knights were initially introduced in Chapter 1054 of the manga titled "Flame Emperor" and made their first appearance as silhouettes in Chapter 1083 titled "The Truth of That Day". These individuals serve as the law enforcement of the Holy Land and hold a higher rank than the Marines. Due to their significant involvement in the later stages of the story, it is unlikely that they will be depicted or mentioned in the upcoming Netflix live-action series.
5 Yamato
Yamato made her debut in episode 972 of the One Piece anime titled "The End of the Battle! Oden vs. Kaidou!" Consequently, it is unlikely that she will make an appearance in the upcoming Netflix series. Yamato has developed a deep bond and admiration for the samurai Kozuki Oden and aspires to emulate him. However, since Kozuki Oden is unlikely to appear in the One Piece Netflix adaptation, Yamato's chances are also slim.
4 Germa 66
Germa 66, also known as Germa double six, made their first appearance in the 783rd episode of the One Piece anime titled "Sanji's Homecoming — Into Big Mom's Territory!". They later debuted in the manga in Chapter 825 which is titled "The WENP's Comic Strip". This underground mercenary group had initially planned to form an alliance with the Big Mom pirates. However, since the character Big Mom will not be included in the Netflix series, Germa 66 will also be absent.
3 Dr. Vegapunk
The only time Dr. Vegapunk made an appearance in the One Piece anime was in the 610th episode titled "Clashing Fists! The Battle of Two Vice Admirals". He also appeared in three chapters of the manga, namely Chapter 684, Chapter 1061, and Chapter 1066. Dr. Vegapunk used to be a MADS scientist and is currently employed by the World Government and the Marines. However, considering the progress of the story, it is unlikely that he and his satellites will be featured in the new Netflix series.
2 Admiral Fujitora
Admiral Fujitora, also known as Issho, made his debut in "Adventure! The Country of Love and Passion, Dressrosa," the 630th episode of the One Piece anime. He was also introduced in Chapter 701 of the manga, titled "Adventure in the Land of Love, Passion, and Toys." Due to his late appearance in the story, it is unlikely that this prominent One Piece character will be featured in the Netflix series.
1 Sabo (As An Adult)
Sabo made his debut in the 494th episode of the One Piece anime titled "Enter Sabo! The Boy From Gray Terminal" as a young boy. He is recognized as the chief of staff of the Revolutionary Army. However, it is improbable that Sabo will make an appearance as an adult in the Netflix live-action adaptation of One Piece, as his older version is introduced in a later part of the anime.
