Despite not being major adversaries at the beginning of Vanderpump Rules, Jax Taylor and Katie Maloney's longstanding enmity persists nearly ten years later.
Viewers were first introduced to the former costars in 2013 with the debut of Vanderpump Rules. Along with providing an inside look into the workings of Lisa Vanderpump's Los Angeles restaurants, the show also delivered its fair share of drama.
As Katie and Tom Schwartz's relationship and eventual marriage unfolded on screen, Jax frequently found himself at odds with his friend's significant other. The situation was further complicated by Katie's close friendship with Jax's ex-girlfriend, Stassi Schroeder.
After a noticeable breakup during the early days of Vanderpump Rules on Bravo, Jax and Stassi managed to maintain their friendship and even formed a connection with each other's partners, Brittany Cartwright and Beau Clark.
However, the situation changed when Jax and Brittany decided not to attend Stassi and Beau's wedding in Italy in May 2022. Although Jax and Brittany attempted to explain their absence and offer an apology, Stassi and Beau have yet to publicly accept it or allow them back into their close-knit circle.
Katie, on the other hand, served as the maid of honor at the wedding and consequently remained faithful to Stassi. Brittany has now confirmed that since the wedding drama, Katie has maintained a distance from her and Jax.

When Katie and Jax became part of Vanderpump Rules in 2013, they were not particularly close friends while being filmed. While Stassi went through various turbulent experiences with Jax, Katie remained loyal to her. At the same time, Jax believed that Katie was not a suitable match for his friend Schwartz.

As the Vanderpump Rules cast gained fame, several couples made the decision to leave their small apartments in Los Angeles for larger homes. However, it didn't take long for all of them to end up in the same neighborhood of Valley Village.
"I wasn't thrilled about it, and I was strongly against it. I love them. I love all my friends. But I don't want to live next to any of them," Katie expressed to The Daily Dish in 2017. "I think it's wonderful that we have our own individual spaces. We spend so much time together - working together, hanging out, and traveling together - that it's really nice to have some personal space. And now our personal space has become their personal space too."
Katie discussed boundaries with Brittany, but Jax failed to receive the message.
"We had a conversation, Brittany and I, where we didn't necessarily establish strict rules, but we just reminded each other to communicate through calls or texts," she explained. "However, Jax has been disregarding that rule. He randomly knocks on the door, and when I ask who it is, it turns out to be Jax asking if Tom is home."
Jax expressed his support for Katie and Schwartz's marriage amidst light-hearted complaints. Speaking about the newlyweds, he stated, "Everyone has their opinions, it's amusing. If people focused on their own lives, the world would be better. Tom and Katie just got married, and they say the first year is always the hardest, but from what I can see, they've been great. I can't say what happens behind closed doors, but so far, so good."
Jax assured Katie and Schwartz that he was readily available for advice, mentioning that he resided just down the hall from them. He stated, "I would be the first to notice any issues." Addressing the criticism regarding his strong stance against their marriage, he clarified, "I wasn't opposed to their union because of any dislike towards Katie - in fact, I hold affection for both Katie and Tom."

After praising Katie and Schwartz’s union, Jax was singing a different tune three years later.
Jax revealed to Bravo Insider in March 2020 that Tom is an extremely laid-back guy, while Katie can be tough at times. Despite their differences, Jax adores their dynamic and hopes they stay together forever. As for Jax and Brittany, they announced their departure from Vanderpump Rules later that year.

Jax openly expressed his grievances with Katie after she publicly supported Stassi amidst the wedding controversy.
"She's excessively loyal to Stassi," Jax stated on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in March 2023. "It's completely nonsensical. It's reminiscent of high school."
Katie has also been accused of cheating by the former bartender. When asked about which of his Pump Rules costars were not involved in infidelity drama, he responded with "No, Katie has [cheated]." Despite the accusations, Katie has repeatedly denied these claims.
During the same month, Jax and Brittany suggested that they might consider coming back to Vanderpump Rules following Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss' cheating scandal. However, Katie had reservations about Jax's intentions after he criticized the reality TV series following his initial departure.
"During the 'Everything Iconic With Danny Pellegrino' podcast in April 2023, she expressed her surprise at Jax's three-year-long criticism of the show. However, with his sudden change of perspective, she finds it peculiar. In the meantime, Bravo has commissioned a spinoff series that will feature Brittany, Jax, and Kristen Doute."

Prior to the highly anticipated season 10 reunion of Vanderpump Rules, Jax claimed to have information about alleged fights that occurred during filming. Katie clarified the situation by responding to a post on a Bravo fan account in March 2023, simply writing, "Lol."
Choosing Her Side
The May reunion episode did not witness any cast members engaging in physical altercations. However, amidst a heated argument, James Kennedy became upset with Sandoval and had to leave the stage on multiple occasions, even displaying signs of charging at him.Jax Taylor, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney and Tom Sandoval Scott Kirkland/Shutterstock; Chelsea Lauren/Shutterstock; Stephanie Augello/Shutterstock; Chelsea Lauren/Shutterstock
In April 2023, during Jax and Brittany's appearance on Peacock's Watch With feature, Jax made a rare comment supporting Katie. He expressed his belief that Sandoval played a significant role in the divorce between Schwartz and Katie by influencing Schwartz through their friendship. Jax speculated that if it weren't for Sandoval, Schwartz and Katie might still be together. Despite their differences, Jax acknowledged that he understood Katie's perspective.

In October 2023, Jax publicly criticized Katie for her behavior towards Brittany, accusing her of being "mean."
Expressing his concerns in video footage shared on an Instagram fan account, he stated, "I take issue with that. She's been unkind to my wife. She hasn't been returning calls, and they haven't had a conversation in a long time. Despite being a part of our gender reveal and wedding, Katie seems to be overly confident nowadays, relying on Ariana's popularity."
The fan account claimed to have received a message from Katie, stating that Brittany had not contacted her and that they had a friendly interaction at Scheana Shay's birthday. Katie also denied being mean to Brittany. Jax strongly disagreed and commented on the fan account's post, alleging that Katie was being deceitful and that he could provide evidence to support his claims of her calling him.
