How to Beat Shiva's Dominant

After the prologue of Final Fantasy 16, the narrative takes us back to 13 years following the devastating event when Clive lost everything due to the downfall of Phoenix Gate. Similar to the previous main scenario quests, which served as both tutorials and introductions to Valisthea, "A Chance Encounter" is a concise and straightforward mission that progresses the storyline while also allowing players to unlock additional features and mechanics in Final Fantasy 16.

Although this particular main scenario quest lacks intense action, it compensates with significant story developments that will captivate players eager to discover what unfolds next for Clive. This guide will provide a comprehensive walkthrough of "A Chance Encounter," offering players a glimpse of what to anticipate.

Pursue the Dominant

In the same way as the introductory mission, Final Fantasy 16 players are limited to a single path. Prior to embarking on this path, players may want to consider utilizing their ability points to unlock new skills, if they have not already done so.

Players have the flexibility to reset their abilities at any given time, ensuring that they are not constrained by their initial choices.

Proceed ahead and remain vigilant for a Stoneskin Tonic that can be found on the ground nearby. Traverse through the narrow crevice and continue along the altered terrain, a result of the intense clash between Titan and Shiva. Concealed beneath one of the ice crystals, you will discover a Strength Tonic.

Further ahead, there are additional items awaiting players. However, if their inventory becomes full, they will face the inability to collect any more. Thankfully, the capacity of consumable inventory can be expanded in the future. Continue progressing and eventually, a cutscene will be initiated, leading to the initial combat encounter in "A Chance Encounter".

How to Beat Shiva's Dominant

During the encounter with Shiva's Dominant, it is helpful to have the assistance of several soldiers. Take out a few enemies first before focusing on Shiva's Dominant, as this will make it easier to evade her attacks without the distraction of weaker enemies. Similar to other bosses, Shiva's Dominant can be staggered, allowing for an opportunity to inflict maximum damage.

When Shiva's Dominant reaches 30% health, she will cast Blizzaga. It is important to quickly move away from the ice patches that form to avoid being struck by the large ice crystals that appear in those areas. By continuously dodging her attacks, players will eventually triumph over Shiva's Dominant. Defeating each boss rewards players with various items, including crafting materials.

After a quick cutscene, a fresh wave of adversaries emerges. These foes pose little challenge, allowing Final Fantasy 16 players to effortlessly vanquish them. Right after this encounter, a battle against Tiamat ensues. Despite not possessing the same level of health as a traditional boss, Tiamat can be easily destabilized and overpowered.

After defeating Tiamat, a new cutscene will unfold, revealing Clive's miraculous rescue from an extremely challenging predicament. Subsequently, numerous additional cutscenes will unravel, paving the way for the world map to become accessible. Similar to the previous main scenario quest, players will find themselves with only one destination to choose from - the Hideaway. Journeying to this location will propel the story forward, commencing the next main scenario quest titled "Hide, Hideaway."
