After their encounter with Benedikta, Clive and Cid set out on their quest to uncover information about the rumored Dominant of Fire in Lostwing. Along the way, they take a much-needed break to rest and regain their strength. Meanwhile, Cid's scout embarks on a mission to locate Benedikta and her forces and determine the whereabouts of the Dominant of Fire. As players progress through the eighth main scenario quest of Final Fantasy 16, titled "The Dead of Night," they will have the opportunity to witness Lostwing in a peaceful state, free from the presence of hostile forces.
"The Dead of Night" commences with players having to engage in a conversation with a character named Quinten. They can follow the red waypoint to locate him. Subsequently, a cutscene unfolds where Quinten presents players with a Curiosity known as The Hanged Man. Following this, players are required to interact with two distinct individuals in Lostwing.
After speaking with the two individuals, players should follow the red waypoint to locate Cid and engage in a conversation with him. This will initiate a short cutscene where Clive shares the information he has gathered thus far.
Once the cutscene concludes, players should then return to Quinten and speak to him once more. Quinten will provide the duo with a place to rest and will request their assistance in removing a barricade. It is worth noting that this particular task takes place off-screen, meaning players do not need to actively participate in bringing down the barricade.
Upon completing this task, the quest will be updated, redirecting players to proceed to Caer Norvent.
To Caer Norvent
Continue along the path, defeating any enemies that stand in the way. Eventually, a cutscene will activate, revealing that the caer is heavily guarded and not accessible through the front entrance. Fortunately, there is an alternative route through a network of tunnels located beneath a bridge that connects to the caer. Once the cutscene concludes, the world map will become available, allowing players to travel to Caer Norvent. This will initiate a sequence of additional cutscenes, transitioning the gameplay to Clive and Cid as they enter the caer. This marks the completion of the current main scenario quest and the beginning of the "Headwind" quest.
