Making Sacrifices

Shakira revealed to The Sunday Times in March 2024 that she had paused her career to support Gerard [Piqué] in his football pursuits. She mentioned that this decision required a lot of sacrifices for the sake of love.

During this time, Shakira also reflected on the significant differences between her career and Gerard's profession.

Understanding and expressing empathy is essential for artists. On the other hand, athletes often need to suppress empathy to stay focused on their competitive goals. This is why mixing artists and athletes romantically might not be the best idea. It's hard to say what I really need at this moment.

Despite this, Shakira emphasized the importance of self-love and acceptance, stating, "There comes a point when a woman no longer relies on others for validation, but instead focuses on discovering her true self.
