As part of its annual Halloween event, Pokemon GO increases the appearance of Ghost-type Pokemon, along with offering additional bonuses such as increased candy. Each year, the Halloween event brings unique experiences for players, ranging from Special Research quests that provide rewards like Spiritomb, to the opportunity to catch Pokemon wearing Halloween costumes. This year, the highlight will be the exciting debut of Greavard and Houndstone, with even more thrilling activities and surprises planned for Pokemon GO's Halloween celebration in 2023.

The upcoming Halloween 2023 event for Pokemon GO is divided into two parts. The first part will run from Thursday, October 19 at 10:00am local time until Thursday, October 26 at 10:00am local time. During this period, trainers will have the opportunity to encounter a new Pokemon called Greavard. If a player manages to collect 50 Greavard candy, they will be able to evolve it into Houndstone. Additionally, there will be an increase in the spawn rates of Ghost, Dark, and Poison-type Pokemon. A special shiny version of Phantump will also make its debut during the Halloween festivities in Pokemon GO.

Pokemon GO players who are willing to pay $5.00 have the option to participate in an event-exclusive Timed Research. This special research includes exciting encounters with Phantump, Alolan Meowth, and other Pokemon. Additionally, players will have the opportunity to earn a Ghost Pose for their avatars. It is important to note that the Timed Research must be completed before Tuesday, October 31 at 8:00pm local time. Fans should keep this deadline in mind before purchasing access to the Timed Research.
In addition, the Pokemon GO Halloween event will feature free Timed Research for fans to enjoy. The first Timed Research will be available from October 19 at 10:00am until October 31 at 8:00pm. This research will primarily focus on Greavard. The second Timed Research, also taking place within the same time window, will challenge players to capture 108 Ghost-type Pokemon in order to earn an encounter with Spiritomb. It is worth noting that in previous Halloween events, the Spiritomb research was considered Special Research, so it is intriguing to see the change to Timed Research this year.
