In 2018, the country singer started her journey with her band, Morgan Wade and the Stepbrothers, by unveiling their inaugural album, "Puppets With My Heart." In February 2022, Richards revealed their friendship on Instagram. From then on, they frequently uploaded pictures of their hangouts online. Wade posted photos from their trip to Italy in January 2023, captioned with the words, "Much needed trip. Now back to work."
A month later, Richards accompanied Wade and her family to Universal Studios Hollywood for a day trip. In April 2023, Wade performed at the Night of Music event organized by the RHOBH star to commemorate her late friend, Lorene Shea.

"I'll be going all out with my music until November, and then I'll take November and December off to rest," she shared with Page Six at the time.
She continued, "I'm feeling alright, but I'm frustrated that I won't be able to exercise because I really enjoy it. That's my only concern. My mother had it, and my younger cousin is going to experience it, but I will be fine."
In June 2023, Wade revealed on Instagram that she had received a diagnosis of Tourette's syndrome. "Keeping this brief and simple — if you notice me frequently shaking my head, it's because of Tourette's. Some people ask genuinely, while others like to tease me, but that's just how it is," she explained. "I sometimes make unusual facial expressions and noises, and my head shakes. So please think before you judge me."
Wade observed in the comments of the post that her tics occur when she experiences feelings of "anxiety, nervousness, or agitation," but they can also occasionally manifest "unexpectedly." She ended her message by acknowledging individuals "coping with Tourette's and enduring it on a daily basis ❤️."
