Marvel Snap is a never-ending source of entertainment, with new seasons to look forward to. While it has been criticized for its microtransaction practices, it still offers casual fun for fans of Marvel and deck-building games. The addition of new cards in Marvel Snap is always intriguing, although obtaining them without spending money can be challenging. However, the game still has a flaw that needs to be addressed - the lack of variant skins for certain cards. While some fans enjoy the excitement of unlocking mystery variants, others may prefer to purchase one of the six available in the daily shop rotation. This is where microtransactions can be beneficial for players who are unable to acquire desired cards through other means. As the game continues to evolve, especially with the launch of the competitive PvP mode, Conquest, it is important to resolve this issue promptly.
Marvel Snap Still Needs Secondary Variants for Cards Like Squirrel Girl and Mister Sinister
Marvel Snap cards such as Bucky Barnes generate another card known as Winter Soldier when Bucky is eliminated. Similarly, Squirrel Girl's On Reveal ability creates a Squirrel card at each location, while Mysterio's On Reveal ability produces illusory cards at every location, and so forth.
However, it is unfortunate that there are currently no alternate skins available for these resulting cards, also called tokens. Although players may come across variants for cards like Doctor Doom, the tokens associated with them, known as Doombots, still maintain their default appearance. This can be quite disappointing if players prefer a variant that spawns default cards, leading to a mismatched and visually inconsistent pairing.
Lower series tiers can add excitement to the mobile hit by shuffling the cards, but many fans eagerly await the daily challenges for a chance to collect variant skins. However, it can be disappointing when the same variants appear in the daily rotation while new cards are unavailable elsewhere. Characters like Winter Soldier have incredible art from comic book media, and it's unfortunate that only his mild-mannered and boyish counterpart receives exciting variants.
Fortunately, this concern has already been acknowledged in a Marvel Snap Q&A forum by Second Dinner developers. They explained that addressing this issue would require additional resources and time for their small team, but they plan to explore it in the future.
This statement was made some time ago, so it is highly improbable that these cards will have any variations in the near future. Second Dinner likely has their plate full with developing and introducing new seasons and balancing the game, but the absence of card variants seems to neglect the enjoyable aspect of deck-building and collecting variants. It could even be a profitable opportunity for fans to invest a little more in unlocking card skins that they would appreciate having.
Marvel Snap can be accessed on both PC and mobile devices.
