Unveiling Jenna Lyons' Striking Genetic Condition: A Remarkable Journey that Ignited a Sensational Fashion Empire

Jenna Lyons overcame adversity with her rare disorder, incontinentia pigmenti, which affects her hair, teeth, and eyelashes Her inspiring journey shaped her successful fashion career

Jenna Lyons, star of The Real Housewives of New York City, found her passion for fashion through her personal experience with incontinentia pigmenti, a genetic disorder that hinders hair, teeth, and eyelash growth.

During an appearance on The View on Wednesday, July 19, the 55-year-old explained, "As a result, all of my teeth are artificial, and I've invested a considerable amount of money in them. My hair is also not natural; I can remove it like a hat rather than it being a wig. Additionally, I wear false eyelashes, have no eyebrows, and my skin bears visible scars."

Lyons explained that her motivation to pursue a career in fashion and beauty stemmed from her desire to improve her appearance. She confessed to always striving to conform and fit in.

Nevertheless, Lyons faced difficulties when it came to discovering suitable products for herself. Specifically, she struggled to find eyelashes that complemented her look. Despite attempting numerous options, she found that they were all excessively large and unsuitable for her.

In 2020, Lyons decided to take matters into her own hands by developing a collection of lashes that are more subtle and elegant.

Her brand, LoveSeen, specializes in natural-looking lashes that are delicately attached to a thin band, creating a realistic appearance. LoveSeen's range includes half-lashes, individual lashes, and full bands available in both black and brown options.

In another part of the interview, coanchor Sunny Hostin praised Lyons' accomplishments in the fashion industry. "You have made a lasting impact in the world of New York City fashion for many years... During your time as president of J. Crew, the brand became a favorite of the Obama family, particularly the first lady."

Lyons held a position at J. Crew from 1990 to 2017, transforming the company from a preppy style to a more daring and refined aesthetic. She became renowned for her sequined designs, vibrant neon belts, ballet flats, leather bags, and more. Following her departure from J. Crew, Lyons took on a role in the reality-documentary series Stylish, which focused on her eyelash company. The show documented her journey of hiring employees and reentering the public eye.

Lyons recently made her first appearance on Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City, which premiered earlier this month. The new cast includes Jessel Taank, Erin Dana Lichy, Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, and Brynn Whitfield.

While appearing on The View, Hostin, 54, highlighted that the reality show has been revamped to represent the diversity found in New York City. She expressed that it now feels authentic with regard to age, race, religion, and sexuality.

Lyons is the inaugural openly gay cast member of The Real Housewives of New York. She is currently in a relationship with photographer Cass Bird. Prior to this, Lyons was married to Vincent Mazeau from 2002 to 2011, and the couple has a 16-year-old son named Beckett Lyons Mazeau.

Fans can catch The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo every Sunday, or stream it on Peacock the following day.
