Fortnite has announced a price change for its V-Bucks virtual currency, resulting in increased prices for in-game packs in multiple countries. V-Bucks act as the primary currency in Epic Games' popular battle royale game, allowing players to buy in-game cosmetics from the shop. Many of the game's popular collaborations require a significant amount of V-Bucks to purchase, with the recent partnership with My Hero Academia offering bundles worth up to 2800 V-Bucks. Now, players can expect V-Bucks to become more expensive.

This recent increase in price for the in-game currency is not the first time Fortnite has raised its prices. Earlier this year, both Canada and the United Kingdom experienced changes in V-Bucks pricing, resulting in a higher value for the currency. In contrast, Mexico saw a decrease in pricing. Epic Games usually attributes these pricing adjustments to "currency fluctuations" in the affected countries, with inflation being a significant contributing factor. Now, the United States is the next region to face a price increase.

Fortnite recently unveiled the upcoming adjustments in V-Bucks prices for thirteen different regions, such as Japan, the European Union, and the United States. The majority of regions will experience only slight increases in the cost of V-Bucks at the lower levels, while the United States will witness the 1000 V-Bucks Bundle price rise from $7.99 to $8.99. In general, the prices have been raised by approximately 12.5%, with the highest bundle of 13,500 V-Bucks increasing from $79.99 to $89.99. The modifications to Fortnite's pricing system are scheduled to take effect on October 27.

Prices for Fortnite's V-Bucks have increased alongside a broader trend of rising prices in the gaming industry. As the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S hit the market, the standard price for new video games on next-gen consoles is expected to rise from $60 to $70. Sony recently upped the price of its premium PS Plus service, and Xbox Game Pass's pricing changes are said to be inevitable, as remarked by Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Even Nintendo won't be spared from price hikes, as Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set to launch at a $70 price point.

The latest update to Fortnite's Battle Pass introduces the addition of Ahsoka Tano from the Star Wars franchise as a skin.
