Mortal Kombat 1 Features Plenty of Single-Player and Multiplayer Modes

The story mode of Mortal Kombat 1 transports players into Liu Kang's new universe, where beloved characters have been given fresh backstories. NetherRealm is making a concerted effort to promote the story mode, and based on fan reactions, it appears to live up to the high expectations. With breathtaking cutscenes, an engaging plot, impactful dialogue, and unexpected twists, Mortal Kombat 1's story mode is definitely a worthwhile experience. However, this is not the only single-player option available.

Mortal Kombat 1 also offers a major single-player game mode called Invasion, which blends together several classic Mortal Kombat modes to create something innovative. This mode combines elements of a board game and an RPG, allowing players to choose a character and navigate through a top-down perspective of different locations. Players will encounter challenges represented by individual nodes along the way, including Classic Tower challenges, Test Your Might minigames, and new obstacles. Completing each challenge will earn players various cosmetics as rewards. Furthermore, Mortal Kombat 1 will continuously receive updates for the Invasion mode, introducing new boards and rewards at a regular pace. Mortal Kombat 1 Has a Few New Gameplay Tricks Up Its Sleeve

The standout addition is the innovative Kameo fighter system. After selecting a primary fighter, players can choose a Kameo fighter from a secondary roster. These Kameo fighters can then provide assistance to the player during matches, as they are mapped to "R1" and a directional key. Each Kameo fighter possesses a unique set of moves, and it is up to the players to decide when and how to utilize them in combat.

Mortal Kombat 1 also reintroduces air combos. While previous Mortal Kombat games allowed players to strike opponents while in mid-air, chaining attacks together was not possible. However, in Mortal Kombat 1, every character showcased so far possesses at least one formidable air combo. Additionally, the game features a diverse roster of 24 playable fighters at launch, alongside a comparable number of Kameo fighters, all drawn from various points in Mortal Kombat history. Furthermore, Mortal Kombat 1 will include a post-launch Kombat Pack DLC, which has already confirmed six characters, including notable guest characters like Homelander, Peacemaker, and Omni-Man.
