Destiny 2's Season of the Deep fixed the issue of players not knowing about The Veil and provided important lore revelations.
The Veil Containment quest, which holds important information about The Veil, did not receive significant player engagement. The discovery that Lakshmi-2 is an Exo embodying Maya Sundaresh's voice and memories is a significant advancement for the game's lore, but it may go unnoticed by many players due to the covert nature of Veil Containment.
Destiny 2's Lightfall expansion left players with unanswered questions and high expectations, leading to a sense of disappointment. The introduction of The Veil as a new entity created frustration as only NPCs knew its significance. However, the Season of the Deep offered a solution, revealing crucial lore and resolving the issues surrounding Lightfall. Despite some flaws, the Season of the Deep had a profound impact on the game's overarching story. A single cutscene shed light on The Witness's origins and addressed previously untouched lore elements. Additionally, there were further revelations hidden in a secluded area of Neomuna's map.
Destiny 2's Maya Sundaresh and Chioma Esi Logs Explained
Recent statistics reveal that a minuscule proportion of players have been able to access the Veil Containment quest, and an even smaller fraction have successfully uncovered its concealed lore on a weekly basis. The primary obstacle lies in the fact that this mission becomes available only after players have completed Destiny 2's Unfinished Business Exotic quest, which entails navigating Neomuna and the Sol System before reaching the Black Garden. It is at this point that Veil Containment is unlocked. However, a further predicament arises with this mission – it introduces audio logs on a weekly basis.
Consequently, not only can players struggle to discover the existence of the mission, but they must also actively return to the same remote corner of Destiny 2's Neomuna map each week to listen to the new logs. These logs are of utmost importance for comprehending the nature and function of The Veil, which appears to be a paracausal entity akin to The Traveler, functioning as a collective consciousness. While this revelation alone is monumental, the eighth week's audio log from Chioma Esi potentially brings an even more significant revelation.
Chioma Esi, a member of the Ishtar Collective since before the Collapse, ventured to Neptune with her wife Maya Sundaresh. They would later uncover The Veil and establish Neomuna, making them well-known figures in the Destiny 2 lore. Chioma's logs divulge Maya's intense fascination with The Veil and the Vex, which led her to create an Exo replica of herself named Lakshmi-2.
Though not initially prominent, Lakshmi-2 gained significance in Destiny 2's Season of the Splicer for her Vex obsession and animosity towards the Eliksni. The revelation that Lakshmi-2 is actually an Exo embodying Maya Sundaresh's voice and memories may be the most impactful discovery in Lightfall, shaping the game's past and future. However, due to the limited visibility of Veil Containment in Destiny 2, many players may overlook this news.
Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
