Ironmace has recently launched the second hot fix for Dark and Darker's Early Access phase, addressing several bugs and issues that were reported by players.

Despite facing ongoing legal challenges and being removed from Steam, Ironmace is determined to enhance the game through recent updates and is working towards a comeback on the platform.

The Korean indie studio Ironmace has recently released a new update for its multiplayer dungeon crawler, Dark and Darker. This game, which entered early access just a week ago, offers a unique combination of first-person RPG mechanics, roguelike exploration, and battle royale gameplay.

Earlier this year, Dark and Darker attracted attention due to a controversial situation involving its developer, Ironmace. They were accused of stealing code from their former publisher, Nexon, resulting in a police raid in March. Despite Ironmace denying these allegations, tensions persisted as Nexon continued to make claims against them. The dispute originated from the development of Dark and Darker after Nexon canceled a similar project called P3, in which some Ironmace staff had previously been involved. Legal complaints were filed in 2021, leading to a police investigation in late 2022. Ironmace maintained their innocence, although reports suggested that materials were seized during the raid.

As a result of ongoing legal complications, Dark and Darker was removed from Steam. However, this setback did not deter Ironmace, who proceeded to release the game in early access with the determination to reach its full launch. In a recent update, Ironmace introduced significant improvements to the gameplay experience. The focus of this update is to reinforce the anti-hack system and ensure a fair gaming environment. Players can also expect a more balanced distribution of loot, with increased drop rates for Uncommon items from all chests, and even a chance for Epic-grade items to appear.

Notably, the update enhances the rewards from specific chests, such as Ornate, Lion's Head, and Golden Chests, providing greater motivation for exploration. The Goblin Merchant now offers a wider range of items for players to acquire. This Dark and Darker update also addresses gameplay intricacies by blocking certain strategies related to the Cave Troll encounter, fixing bugs associated with the Cave Troll's behavior, and resolving map-related issues.
