The 2.01 update for Cyberpunk 2077 addresses common bugs and concerns.
The release of Phantom Liberty and its 2.0 update has been relatively seamless.
Subsequent patches, including the upcoming one, will enhance the game and address technical issues. However, it is important to note that players on PS4 and Xbox One will not have access to these updates.
CD Projekt Red has released patch notes for the upcoming 2.01 update of Cyberpunk 2077, which includes various improvements and fixes. This update comes after the release of the Phantom Liberty DLC and the extensive 2.0 update, which received mixed reviews but overall positive feedback.
Given the game's initial buggy state, players had concerns about the Phantom Liberty DLC. This significant expansion was designed to introduce a new region, weapons, and a cinematic quest line, offering exciting and ambitious content. Fortunately, CD Projekt Red seems to have learned from the initial controversies surrounding Cyberpunk 2077, as both the Phantom Liberty DLC and the accompanying 2.0 update were relatively issue-free. However, there are still some areas that need improvement, and the upcoming update aims to address these.
Despite CD Projekt Red's shift in focus to the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, the studio will continue making small improvements to the game after the 2.0 update. Recently, the studio released patch notes for the first of these updates, which aim to fix various bugs. These bugs range from minor issues like the car radio playing too quietly to more significant problems such as corrupted save files on PlayStation. Additionally, the patch notes mention that the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game will receive performance improvements.
While the base game of Cyberpunk 2077 faced significant technical issues upon its release, the launch of Phantom Liberty has been remarkably smooth in comparison. Although the game is not without flaws, the introduction of the 2.0 update alongside Phantom Liberty showcases the potential it could have had if more time had been dedicated to fixing its problems. As more patches, including the upcoming one, are implemented, the game is expected to become even more refined.
However, CD Projekt Red still has work ahead of them. The 2.01 update addresses certain bugs and concerns outlined in the patch notes, but not all of them. It is possible that some players, particularly those on PS4 and Xbox One who will not have access to the 2.0 update or the Phantom Liberty DLC, may remain unsatisfied with the game's technical state. Nonetheless, with the innovative approach offered by Phantom Liberty and the comprehensive revamp of criticized systems in the 2.0 update, the future of Cyberpunk 2077 appears brighter than ever.
