Clive and his companions forge numerous alliances while liberating the people of Valisthea from the control of the Mother Crystals. However, they also attract a fair share of adversaries, mainly unidentified soldiers easily defeated in combat. Occasionally, Final Fantasy 16 players will encounter these individuals during their journeys.
Initially appearing to be a routine rescue mission, the "Bad Blood" side quest takes an unexpected twist towards its conclusion. Instead of encountering a thankful civilian, players confront a vengeful soldier seeking retribution. They must decide whether to engage in combat or opt for nonviolence and choose not to intervene.
How to Complete Bad Blood in Final Fantasy 16
Players will initially have the opportunity to activate the "Bad Blood" side quest while undertaking the "Cloak and Dagger" main storyline quest in Final Fantasy 16. In order to do this, they must engage in conversation with the injured soldier affiliated with the Republican faction, who can be located along the path leading to Tabor. The soldier will disclose that his unit's encampment was overwhelmed by a significant surge of aether and implore Clive to eliminate those individuals who were affected by it, thus preventing them from causing harm to others.
After the soldier takes his final breath, players must proceed along the path ahead, while keeping to the left wall as it gradually opens up. In due course, they will notice definitive indications of an aether flood on their left side and should make their way towards the group of Akashic enemies, swiftly dispatching them to end their suffering. Surprisingly, not everyone fell victim to the aether's influence, as one soldier successfully evaded capture and struggled uphill to safety.
"He can barely stand" or "Fine. If you insist"
Upon reaching the quest marker, players will encounter another dying Republican soldier. Engaging in conversation with him will mark the completion of the "Bad Blood" side quest, rewarding players with 1,035 XP, 25 Renown, 100 Magicked Ash, and a Meteorite. However, as Clive prepares to depart, the soldier's eyes meet his and recognition sparks. The soldier realizes Clive's involvement in the brutal demise of numerous allies in Kostnice and Rosalith, and a desire for vengeance consumes him. At this pivotal moment, players will face a decisive choice.
Players are faced with a choice between "He can barely stand" or "Fine. If you insist" in this particular situation. However, it is unfortunate that, similar to most of the other side quests in FF16 requiring decisions, the final outcome remains unchanged regardless of the chosen option. Clive firmly refuses to engage in combat with the wounded man, who reciprocates by vowing to seek revenge against Clive in the future.
Final Fantasy 16 is available now exclusively for the PlayStation 5.
