Angus Cloud, known for his role as Fezco on Euphoria, quickly gained fame. Yet, despite his popularity, fans were eager to see him portray his celebrity doppelgänger, Mac Miller.
Nevertheless, Cloud made it clear that he had no interest in taking on the role of the late rapper. In a January 2022 interview with Canada's Etalk, he stated, "I don't think so. Trying to embody someone's entire life and truly portray them requires a great deal of respect. There's so much to learn and understand."
Cloud's resemblance to the musician was striking, with their distinct reddish-brown buzzcuts, beards, and blue eyes. However, Cloud expressed uncertainty about assuming someone's life and legacy, stating that the man was a legend who would forever be remembered. The news of Cloud's untimely death on July 31st reminded fans of their uncanny resemblance. At just 25 years old, he passed away unexpectedly.
“This feels like Mac Miller part 2, and it's heartbreaking. RIP Angus Cloud,” expressed one user on X (formerly known as Twitter). Another user tweeted, “I had such strong hopes of seeing Angus Cloud portray Mac Miller in a Biopic. This is devastating. RIP to both of them. They both passed away far too young.”
Cloud’s family released a statement on Monday confirming his passing. “With great sadness, we had to bid farewell to an extraordinary individual today. As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus held a special place in all of our hearts,” they expressed. “Last week, he experienced the loss of his father and struggled immensely with this grief. The only solace we find is knowing that Angus is now reunited with his dad, who was his closest companion.”
The family expressed their hope that Cloud's death would provide support to those grappling with mental health issues, reassuring them that they are not alone and should not endure the battle in silence. They emphasized that Cloud should be remembered for his sense of humor, laughter, and love for others, while also requesting privacy during this difficult time. The specific cause of death has not been disclosed, but Cloud's mother informed 911 of a potential overdose when she found him unresponsive. Cloud was subsequently pronounced dead at the location.
Cloud passed away nearly five years after Miller's death in September 2018, when he was just 26 years old. The cause of Miller's death was later determined to be a result of mixed drug toxicity. An autopsy revealed the presence of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol in his system at the time of his accidental demise.
One year following his passing, Cameron James Pettit was charged with the alleged sale of fentanyl-laced pills to Miller shortly before his death. Stephen Walter and Ryan Michael Reavis were also charged in connection to Miller's demise and received prison sentences of 17.5 years and over 10 years, respectively. Pettit's case remains pending as of April 2022.
