The Stadium Stampede battle royale mode has been officially revealed for AEW Fight Forever. Despite earlier doubts about the leak, gameplay footage confirms its authenticity. Additionally, it has been announced that Stadium Stampede will be available as a free download for AEW Fight Forever players.
Stadium Stampede is a highly popular match type within the AEW fanbase. Although it is not a traditional battle royale, it features two teams engaging in a chaotic brawl with no disqualifications and falls counting anywhere. The inaugural Stadium Stampede took place in 2020 during the Double or Nothing PPV, where The Elite and Inner Circle factions duked it out in various locations such as bars, corridors, and the field. They utilized unconventional weapons like golf carts, horses, footballs, and baseball bats. This match type offers a mix of brutality and humor, creating an exhilarating viewing experience.
AEW Fight Forever's rendition of Stadium Stampede preserves the absurdity of its original professional wrestling counterpart while incorporating elements from a more conventional battle royale format. In this version, a maximum of 30 participants will find themselves spawned within a stadium teeming with weapons, vehicles, and various dangers. The ultimate victor will be the last wrestler standing.
Based on the showcased gameplay trailer, players will commence by selecting either a fighter from AEW's roster or creating their own unique character. In addition, they will possess a compilation of abilities, customized stats to enhance their combat prowess in different ways, and even designate a finishing move. Subsequently, players will explore the stadium to locate weapons, amass currency to facilitate advantageous acquisitions from vending machines, and eliminate adversaries utilizing both weapons and pro wrestling techniques. Similar to contemporary battle royale games, a designated zone will gradually constrict, compelling players to congregate and engage in combat as the match nears its climax.
In the gameplay trailer for Stadium Stampede, there are numerous amusing instances. One of them involves Sting shooting Yuka Sakazki with a t-shirt cannon while she stands on the goal posts of the football field. However, it's worth mentioning that Yuka had a Molotov cocktail. Another scene depicts Darby Allin driving a golf cart into CM Punk and Kenny Omega during their wrestling match. This game mode seems to be filled with chaotic madness.
Earlier leaks suggested that Stadium Stampede might be exclusive to the battle pass of AEW Fight Forever, limiting access to certain players. It remains uncertain whether these leaks were false or if a decision was made to offer Stadium Stampede to all AEW Fight Forever players. Nevertheless, it does appear to be the right choice. Perhaps Stadium Stampede is the key to maintaining popularity for AEW Fight Forever months after its release. While a specific release date for the Stadium Stampede update has not been confirmed yet, expect news on that soon.
AEW Fight Forever is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
