Bailu is an exceptional character in Honkai: Star Rail, particularly in the warp 5-star category. With her Lightning element and Abundance path, she holds a distinctive role as one of the two healers available in the game until future characters are introduced. This makes her an invaluable asset to early game teams, providing significant healing capabilities to fortunate players who acquire her. Additionally, her unique ability to prevent an ally from being knocked down once per battle adds an extra layer of protection and resilience.
Updated on October 13th, 2023 by Elara Leclair: Despite the introduction of new Abundance characters like Luocha and Lynx, and the upcoming arrival of Huo Huo, Bailu's popularity has declined. However, for players looking for a reliable healer who isn't exclusive to limited banners, she remains the only 5-star option available. Although she may have been overshadowed by characters with debuff dispelling and other utility skills, Bailu still excels in terms of healing output. Fortunately, the introduction of new relics and planar ornaments allows players to further improve her abilities and provide additional benefits to allies beyond healing. However, there haven't been many new options added to her light cone preferences.
Best Relics For Bailu
The Passerby of Wandering Cloud (4p) used to be the recommended Cavern Relic set for Bailu. However, the introduction of Longevous Disciple and Messenger Traversing Hackerspace sets has allowed players to mix and match different sets to enhance Bailu's potential. While Speed is not essential for Bailu herself, players who want to maximize her abilities can consider the 4-piece Longevous Disciple set. This set boosts Bailu's Speed and provides a Speed buff to all allies when she uses her Ultimate. Alternatively, players can mix 2-piece sets of Passerby of Wandering Cloud, Messenger Traversing Hackerspace, or Longevous Disciple based on personal preference and optimal stats. This offers more flexibility and makes the 4-piece Passerby of Wandering Cloud set less valuable, as its effect only triggers once at the beginning of the battle to gain an additional skill point.
For the Planary ornaments, players have two choices. The first option is the Fleet of the Ageless (2p), which increases Bailu's HP for better healing and grants an ATK buff to all allies if her speed exceeds 120. This adds a support function to her healing abilities. On the other hand, the Broken Keel set is also a great choice for Bailu. This set focuses on increasing Bailu's Effect RES and grants a Crit DMG bonus to all allies once the threshold is reached. Both sets are viable, and the decision between them depends on whether players value Speed or Effect RES more for Bailu. Both thresholds are relatively easy to achieve and offer additional support capabilities, making Bailu more than just a healer by benefiting the entire team.
In terms of the main stats, players should aim for:
Body: Outgoing Healing Boost
Feet:HP% or Speed
Planar Sphere: HP%
Link Rope: HP% or Energy Regen Rate
When it comes to sub-stats, the priority for Bailu should be HP% > Flat HP > Speed > Effect RES in order to maximize her healing potential.
Best Light Cones For Bailu
Fortunately, there are several choices available for Bailu's Abundance path when it comes to gacha and F2P light cones, all of which are generally effective. Among these options, Time Waits for No One, Bailu's signature 5-star light cone, stands out as an excellent choice. Not only does it boost Bailu's HP, but it also adds extra DPS by launching a lightning attack based on Bailu's outgoing healing whenever a healed ally attacks the enemy. However, obtaining this light cone is currently limited to gacha or redeeming it from the Store for 600 Starlight, although this option is not recommended.
Other options for light cones include Post-Op Conversation and Shared Feeling, both of which are 4-star light cones. These provide additional outgoing healing and energy regeneration, although they have different conditions and values. Another viable option is Cornucopia, a 3-star light cone that increases outgoing healing for both skills and the ultimate. It serves as a valuable choice for F2P players.
Trace Priority For Bailu
When it comes to upgrading Bailu's kit, the priority should be as follows: focus on upgrading her Ultimate skill first, followed by her other skills, then her talent, and lastly her basic attack. It is also recommended for players to unlock Bailu's Ascension Traces and minor traces related to HP% as they greatly enhance her healing abilities. This approach ensures that players make the most efficient use of their resources and achieve the most effective build for Bailu.
Considering Bailu's role as a healer, her skills and passives are mostly centered around restoring the HP of her team members. Among them, her Ultimate ability, Leap of Marsh Drakon, should be prioritized above all. This AoE healing skill is incredibly powerful and can significantly restore the health of all team members, making it indispensable, particularly when facing bosses that deal AoE damage. Moreover, Bailu's Ultimate also grants an invaluable "Invigorated" buff to party members. This buff allows them to receive additional healing whenever they are hit for the next 2 or 3 turns, depending on whether Bailu has been ascended or not. This added healing provides a substantial advantage, offering sustained support and helping the team better withstand enemy attacks.
Bailu's skill, Singing Among Clouds, adds significant value to her kit. This ability allows Bailu to heal an ally in exchange for a skill point. It's worth mentioning that while the skill bounces around, it may not always target the desired allies, making it less reliable than her Ultimate ability. However, as a single-target healing skill, it remains dependable as it will always heal the selected ally at least once. Therefore, it is advisable for players to upgrade both Bailu's Ultimate and her skill to enhance her overall healing capabilities as they level her up. This way, her healing support in the team can reach its full potential and provide essential aid to allies in various situations.
Bailu's talent, Gourdful of Elixir, primarily affects the amount of healing she provides when an "Invigorated" ally is hit. Upgrading this talent also increases the amount of HP an ally recovers when they are knocked down. A higher talent level can potentially prevent them from being immediately defeated again after this passive ability activates. Conversely, Bailu's basic attack does not possess any restorative effects on her allies. Instead, it inflicts damage on enemies based on her own Basic ATK. While it can help reduce the toughness meter of enemies, its damage output is not substantial as it relies on Bailu's ATK stat. On the other hand, healing scales with Bailu's HP. Therefore, when developing Bailu's build, it is crucial to prioritize increasing her HP over her ATK, as it will have a greater impact on her healing capabilities.
